Hi guys, if you look at my recent threads you can see that I was looking to buy S3 with 50k mileage and not more than 2 owners from new...

This has been going for about 3~4 months since I sold my A3 S Line...
Been looking around since then but I couldn't find anything with the spec I wanted or at least it was DSG which I absolutely hate...

Anyway, over the last two weeks or so been looking to buy R32 MK4 with less than 70k milage and not more than 3 owners but no luck, so I thought maybe the MK5 GTI Edition 30, and no luck on that as well, so basically were switching back and forth between cars and whichever came around with the spec I wanted then I would buy it...

Till I saw this A3 with less than 40k milage and 2 owners from new, 54 reg and obviuosly the cheaper road tax basically, I think around 280/year which isn't that bad for this type of car I believe...

Anyway bought this car and made a deposit and will be picking it up on Friday...
Bought it for 5,800 and has all the usual s line spec, in fact it has an s line badge, alloys but not the s line spoiler...
Was wondering if this is the case for these type of cars...

Also was wondering if I've got a good deal, however I know it won't be a S3 but performance wise it's pretty much close as S3...

What do you guys think?!?

Now was wondering if it's worth doing a S3 conversion, probably 8P2, facelift ones...
How much do you reckon it would cost me for this...

Also was looking to put a turbo on it but not entirely sure how much it would cost me and what's the best place do it...

NOTE: I'm thinking to keep the car for about 4~5 years...
Now what do you guys think and what do you reckon!?!

The car spec as follows;

2004 AUDI A3 3.2 V6 SPORT QUATTRO
2x former keeps
Less than 40k mileage
Half leathe seats
HPI clear
Grey colour

Cheers

And FSH with many stamps...Now what should be checking carefully upon collection...What's most important to check on the 3.2 v6Cheers

I went looking for an A3 black edition and ended up with an S Line. But I still love the car and it will have the black edition extras over the coming months/years :)

its £5k turbo conversion i think :) and i think that would be better than an S3 anyway :p wey cooler!

That low mileage for the year. Good find! One thing i would say as its not been used that much is when you get it, break it in gently

Cool guys!

My first mod would be the S3 steering wheel, now wanted to know if these would fit in straight away and whether it needs to be re-coded...?

Cheers

I had the 3.2 farzad , and now have the s3 . Servicing and mechanical costs on the v6 were silly money for me . Every little job seemed to involve an engine out lol. But was great to drive , I'm sure you'll love it

Cool, how much difference is it between the two/year... I be driving it for approx 5k miles a year though....

Cheers

Welcome.

It sounds like a very good deal with that mileage. I do my own servicing and find it no more expensive than any other car. You just have 2 more plugs to change.

You can't fit a later spec s3 steering wheel as its dual stage on the the airbag and going by the year of car you have it will be s single stage.
A vvt map will make a difference in my opinion, open cone filters lost me power.
Turbo conversions start at 11k from jbs and supercharger conversions can be done for 6k from turner race developments.

Cool!

Have you done any mods so far!?!

What do you reckon to be my first mods, should I go for exterior mods/look-wise mods or engine mods...

Cheers

Yeah I have my car lowered on eibach springs, I have a magnaflow exhaust system, itg air filter and I have led lights, have rs4 alloys and soon to be going down the rs3 bodykit route including front wings, engine mod wise not much you can do to get gains but I would just make sure it's mechanicaly sound if your modding go down the s line route

Thanks!

Why is it so expensive to put a turbo on such engines...

Can't I put the same or similar turbos as S3...

What are the popular turbos that isn't expensive also?!

Cheers

Superchargers use your standard exhaust manifold and exhaust system, so that side of things keep costs down.

The 6k supercharger kit from TRD is non intercooled, its 8k plus for an intercooled kit. So 3k less than a turbo kit.
But with supercharging your limited. With a turbo kit there's more room for improvements, pistons , rods and bigger turbos. It all depends on how far you want yo go and how big your wallet is!

It's The extra .5 litre of oil that p*sses me off. Supposes I should just buy 2 5 litres instead of a 5 and a 1litre.

Thanks for the replies guys, really appreciate it...

I must say there is nothing like 3.2 v6 engine, even S3...

I already have S3 which my girl drives it most of the time, hardly could take it away from her!!! :(

That's why I was looking to buy myself another S3, however ended up with v6, just had the car yesterday and today morning went for spin, absouletly love it!!! I must say there is no way you could compare the two 3.2 v6 and S3, driven both but to be honest would go for 3.2 v6 all day from now on...

I did manage to get 28mpg town and 33mpg on motorway, not bad at all, was expecting a lot worst than this...

Took a few pics to show you guys...
Cheers

Even though says 3.2 Quattro Sport, it has s line badges... not sure why!?! But it doesn't have s line spoiler!!!

How often do I have to change the oil, also chain and water pump hasn't been changed...

The last service was done on 11/03/2013, @ 33k [longlife service, inspection service and oil changed], now the mileage is 37k

So should I service it ASAP or what...?

Cheers

Change the oil now mate. Set off on a good footing.
Scrap the long life servicing. Use the same oil but do it every 12 months max.

Cool, could I do it myself?

What oil should I go for?

Cheers mate :)

Car very nice mate. Someone has put slime badges on mine even though it's a sport. It annoys me a little as I know any one that knows about cars knows it ain't an sline. But it will cause more damage than it's worth taking them off.

May as well get the haldex and diff oil done as well if it's 9year old oil. You need a special tool to change the haldex oil filter, probably not worth buying. Audi (sytner Bradford)charge £75 to do it.

For engine oil you need 5.5liters. Let me check what grade and il get back to you. I do know it cost £70 lol.

Before I buy this one I viewed another sport Quattro and that also had a line badges, asked the dealers and he had no clue what I was talking about...! Maybe they all come with a line badges, coz mine also has s line door trim...

Is it what I use.

Cool, cheers mate really appreciate it :)

I'll get that sorted soon then :)

i dont know what kind of s3 youve driven mate, but any a3 compared with a s3 is like night/day... A3s are incredibly soft compared the S... The s3 has more power and the 2.0tfsi is more highly tunable engine compared with the v6... 3.2's are nice.... The only thing that I wish the s3 had compared to the v6 is that ripping exhaust note...

I love surprising s3 drivers in my 3.2! I really don't get this s3 thing, you spend 15k for a good one for what is a 4pot 2.0 , when you can get a good 3.2 for 5k drop it off at jbs with your 10k left over and walk away . Three weeks later pick it up turbocharged with 380bhp.
Just the way my mind works.

As for softness, those who mod their s3s change to coil covers , there's nothing stopping an A3 owner fitting the same. Also all engines can be tuned a great example is that s3 8l with the 3.2 running over 800bhp.

There's no replacement for displacement when it comes to tuning.

Don't know what a3 3.2's you've driven but I have driven many s3's from old to new and would not say my a3 and a s3 are like night and day more like morning and afternoon.... The 3.2 is just as tuneable as any s3 just different cost involved, but my 2006 a3 is just as good as a standard s3 apart from the body kit and I have a much better exhaust note but more importantly I have the 9k change in the bank :) people get certain cars because they tick boxes

I'm not saying they are both the same neither saying 3.2 is better than s3, just saying both feel the Same kind offff, I've got both and the quickness the almost the same so what's the point wasting 15k when u could buy 3.2 fit less than 6k...
Respect to all a3 owners :)
