You won't be disappointed! One of the best sound systems I've heard and I've heard a lot of really high end systems including linn, bowers, harmon etc...

The only 2 systems I've found better in a car are the ones in the A8 and the £7000 meridian in the new range.

you clearly haven't heard any aftermarket systems then, manufacturer systems are way way overpriced. That £7K system would probably cost you not much over £1K in a decent car stereo store. ive always gone for decent sound systems spending £2-4K on aftermarket stuff

the b&o is a good quality option, but amazing? nope its acceptable and worth £750, ok top end, ok mid, not much punch/bass/low end. Having said that the B&o option was my 2nd option I selected after colour, as I couldn't live with the carpy standard sound, lol

I wonder how much effort B+O actually put into these car sound systems, or does Audi just do it itself and pay for the name.

Totally agree with what u said.
None of these systems will come close to an aftermarket install.
But the audi/ B&O are designed for the car and very stealthy without loosing a heap of boot space with amps and subs.
Would cost a fair whack to try and make an install look standard :)

B&O must have designed the system for the best sound.
Pity the tweeters didn't come out the dash on the A3 like the higher end Audi's when u turn on the ignition ...
That would have been smart :)

S3 Sportback, bought as showroom launch model 16th October 2013, took delivery 19th October 2013....3 days wait!!

Monsoon Grey, 6-speed manual

Options: Technology pack, Front & rear parking assist, Adaptive cruise control, Interior light pack with auto dimming mirror, Light & rain sensor pack, extended mono pur finish, Hill hold assist, Tyre pressure monitor, Adaptive zenon headlights

If this was not a showroom model I would have ordered extra....electric lumbar support, folding door mirrors...otherwise spec I wanted, hence decision to get showroom car with about 6.5% discount. For those optioning for no smoking pack, you just loose a very handy and stylish storage container (which can double as an ash tray)...so probably best to keep it in. Audi sound system very good so unsure if B&O system worth another outlay

Only 500 miles done so far....but fantastic, no complaints! Real world fuel economy is about 32-34 mpg for commuting, near 40mpg motorway at 70mph in cruise, and 25-30 fast driving (but still good)....amazing for a 300hp car....plus lots of admiring glances and comments.

AMENDED TODAY

Still on week 5 BUT have amended spec to include Tech Pack PNQ instead of SD Nav. Have also deleted No Smoker Pack.. mot a smoker but like the little ashtray/coin holder rather than the boring 2 cup holder voids.. With a bit of extra discount extra cost is minimal!!

Might be helpful to include our Audi codes... I think this is my latest!!

Another one to add to the list:

Ordered from Kings Lynn Audi with their lovely 9% discount, but will live in North London.

Audi code: AC2YYX5S

Spec:
S3 3dr S-tronic
Crystal - Estoril blue
Extended interior elements mono.pur
Technology pack with mobile telephone preparation high

LED headlights
Tyre pressure monitor
Interior light pack
Electric lumbar support

It's my first ever auto - so I must be getting old?
Or maybe it's the faster changes and quicker 0-60 over the manual that appeals :)

Lovely spec - no adaptive cruise control to go with all the London stop/go traffic? Would work beautifully with the s-tronic box and the hill hold assist. It's a cheap option IMHO.

Don't worry about having a short options list - it's all about what YOU want.

Yours will be coming down the line 1 week after mine, i'm on build week 7!

Did you prefer the misano red over the brilliant red then? I just saw it as an extra £500 I could spend on toys!!

Ordered 12/10/2013 Build week: 8

Sportback
S-tronic
Misano Red
Black Fine Nappa Leather
Aluminium Roof Rails
Comfort Pack with Parking System Plus
Audi Sound System

Audi config code: A8TQLWDK

Not worried about the short options list at all I'm coming from a mk1 Focus Diesel so even base spec is miles ahead of what I'm used to!

The demonstrator I tried was in Misano Red and it looked brilliant especially when the sun was out so I was sold on it then!

WOW - from a mk1 focus diesel to a new S3... that's quite a leap!

Misano looks great, don't get me wrong - the manual demo we tried in Cornwall as in Misano and we loved it too. When we returned it we parked it next to a brilliant red new A3 and it was cloudy and we really couldn't tell the difference without really looking.

Bright sunlight, agree it 'pops' a bit more.

You should have got an A7 or 8 with B&O .... £6,500 of awesomeness ;-)

Might try retrofit an a8 b&o system! Haha, get those tweeters appearing out of the dash when you turn the car on (can hear James Bond music in my head right now)

Itguy,

Thanks - it's been hard work getting to a spec I'm happy with.
I did consider ACC in one of the seven or so configurations I built.

Decided against it in the end - as I do want to have some input into the driving process!

was going to buy one about a year and a half a go but buying first house came first, now that's out of the way and got a new job with a significant pay increase I decided to treat myself!

Hi all,
Been lurking here for a few weeks and recently placed an order for a S3. Spec as below and managed to get an 8% discount from the dealer.

S3 3 door manual
Monsoon grey
Tech pack
B & O
Interior light pack
LED lights
Privacy glass
Folding mirrors
Hill hold assist
Comfort pack

Ordered on 15/10/13 and hoping for March 14 delivery. Not got a build week yet!

very true re: custom install (decent ones with a decent sound system like the ones you see in car shows will easily set you back £10K+, ive seen plenty of amps that cost £7K+ alone, despite liking decent systems I think that's pointless in a small environment which is renowed for being near impossible to get decent sound due to panel vibration/glass) and to be honest its decent enough as even though I have a £3K sound system in my current car im a bid old for it at 45, lol

£750 on the sound system is a positive bargain compared to how much audi is charging for some options like the tech pack

almost like me - moving from a 10 year old pug 307xsi and 15 year old fiesta 1.25

im getting the misano red, agreed not a massive difference but I felt the brilliant looked a bit flat in comparison whereas the misano does change a little in different light

I'd ditch the S Tronic then Mr Marshall ... I'm not a fan (clearly!)

yep manual for me too - got loads of other options including park assist despite never having probs parking, I love gimmicks. however the though of acc just scares the hell of me and lane assist is for idiots who cant drive

the thing that makes me laugh is where people drag race with an auto car on launch control - pointless - you may as just set all these aids to on and then get out of the car

no that's just cheating

Maybe it's just me, but I'm bored of having to clutch pump in the start-stop London traffic.
Think it's time for a change. Hence S-tronic.

As for ACC and the other 'assist' options - I like my gimmicks too, but you have to draw a line somewhere.

lane assist is for idiots who cant drive

Starter motors are for idiots who can't hand-crank engines.
Auto choke is for idiots who can't start cars.
Power steering is for idiots who are too weak to steer
Cruise control is for idiots who can't press the accelerator
Park assist is for idiots who can't park
etc etc

Just because you chose not to add a particular assist system (but did choose others I notice), doesn't make people who did choose them idiots.

That's one of the most ludicrous and idiotic things I've ever read on here.
