What's the best way of connecting my iphone to a symphony 2 stereo to play music and charge,

I spoke to my local car-electrics / stereo / phone place about this a while ago - although I can't recall the exact kit he was suggesting, I do recall that there was a wiring harness and gizmo available, and also a phone cradle which could be hard-wired to the car. This would then give me power to the iPh when it was plugged into the cradle, as well as allowing it to interface with the car stereo for music etc. More importantly, it also muted the stereo to make or receive calls. Iirc, he wanted about £250 for the whole job.

Hi, does the dension gateway lite charge and let you control from the head unit also where can I get one?

Yes to both, I got mine direct from them but apparently you are supposed to get it from a UK supplier, I think you can get them from ebay

There's probably a difference between the built-in CD changers and the glove box CD changers. I've got a feeling with any AUX input you'll likely have to sacrifice your glove box CD changer, but happy days if you have the changer that's built into the HU.

I'm also looking to play from USB / SD card from my Symphony II in my 2003 Cab.
The Xlink product Audi USB/SD MP3 Interface Model V :: AUDI :: XCarLink seems ideal and has blue tooth option as well which helps with phone calls.

The Dension system Dension Gateway Lite BT GBL3AU2/A2DP non-text Audi iPod iPhone/USB/AUX/Bluetooth Interface Adaptor does not seem to display any song information.
Does anyone have experience of either / both of the Xlink or Dension systems (or a better one) connected to symphony II system (with built in 6 disc CD changer) ? My car does not have any steering wheel controls.
I don't have an Iphone but my son does so Iphone connection not essential but SD card (or USB) essential and bluetooth seems sensible
Thanks
David

I'll have my xcarlink in a couple of days I'll let you know how it is

Mines the gateway lite and it doesn't display track titles, although my iphone 5 is mounted next to the stereo and when I change tracks on spotify it displays the names on my phone which I can see. If you press the skip button on the stereo it changes tracks on the phone.

Thanks chaps.
Madmike01UK, which particular model Audi stereo have you linked to and how easy was it ?
Cheers
David

mines the double din built in 6 disc changer one. I've also got a brotek (sp) phone holder, I also needed to buy a cable and lightning adapter to fit my iphone 5, all in it's probably cost me £150 but I wanted to retain the original stereo, it works fine and I am more than happy with my set up, although I may be getting rid of my car soon if I can persuade my Mrs and also get a good deal on p/x my car towards and M3 so it all may be up for grabs shortly.
