Well the D3S bulbs can be bought from shops like 'xenonhids4us.com' for about £60 (not genuine but good enough) and ballasts are around £100 a pair from eBay (you would need genuine ones). Then there is the cost of fitting, if you are not going it yourself you will need someone to do it for you.
Where abouts are you based? Pm me for further info

are ballasts not around 100 each?

To get a proper OEM fitting you need headlamp washers and associated plumbing and wiring, a new light switch and auto levelling unit fitted to suspension as well as VAGCOM/VCDS coding - you can get them working with less but they won't be compliant with the Construction and Use regs that a factory fit is. Depends what you want.

How was it a pain thanks for the contribution was it expensive to do as i dont have much money and what with the washers and the leveling bits what im i looking at spending on this as i want it to be legal if not then will keep the halogen ones.
Thanks again.

i bought the headlamps, ballasts and bulbs a while back. Cost me around 600-650 and when i found an audi specialist near me they quoted me 1200 for fitting. Needless to say i told them to get lost!

I fitted a D1S setup to my car, pair of ballasts with cables were £65 off ebay (OEM BMW Hella), OSRAM or Ebay special D1S bulbs £10-50.

You just have to get a good ballast to avoid the wiper damage. So either a 2nd hand pair of OEM or known quality replacements. You will also need a wiring adaptor harness (Kufatec), perhaps £50 or so.

Front bumper also needed like mine to allow the washer jets to come out of (panels under the lights)

Only if you intend on fitting the washer system as the holes are needed to allow the jets to come out off
