Regular readers will remember that about a month ago, I managed through my own stupidity and incompetence to flood my ECU, the result being five days without transport and a huge bill. It is fair to say that Mrs Grumpy Old Man was not impressed; I paid a heavy price in rants, furious looks, prolonged silences and through-gritted-teeth promises to stop modding the car.

Now, though I am pleased to report that I am back from the doghouse and seemingly in Mrs GOM's good books again. How do I know this? Because she has just bought me this. It's not a birthday present, or even an early Christmas present, it's just a present.....because she loves me.

Did she make you sign anything about not modding the car before handing it over? :)

Feck me, she got a twin, lol.

All I get from my "Italian" missus is days of silence, which tbh maybe a godsend for most guys lmao.

That could yet happen as it's not yet in my possession. We avoided all the corporate chain shops like Beaverbrooks etc, and ordered it through our local independent jeweller who we've being a customer of for years. He's sourcing it from a trade contact who's a TAG Heuer agent, and giving us 12% off list into the bargain.

It should be on my wrist by tomorrow evening, so I guess I could yet get held to ransom with a written pledge to stop modding. If so, I'll gladly sign it. And when she comes home and finds auto-folding mirrors have been installed, I'll just say "I didn't fit them, Nigel did. You never made him promise to stop modding my car."

Plus one with the big hug.

(And joking apart, I'm kinda off modding myself, right now.)

Those are lovely watches, by the way, Molnboman

I'll order the kit now then lmao.

Personally I would say, you're moaning at me for spending £400 t fix the car but you spent £1100 on a watch, whose done better (not mentioning the watch is for you) lmao.

Abit of topic, but I heard with the new Jaguars you can buy a Tag watch and it will have clocks in the Jag with Tag logo etc and when you walk upto the car, as long as you have the watch on it will open the car without the key! Sounds good but shame it can not be done with A4s' lol
