50/50 haldex mod

That sqs with solenoid option could work with a micro switch on the throttle pedal so it activates at a certain throttle position, like WOT engages the solenoid and you get the preset power split, then part throttle the solenoid is off and you have fwd until you WOT again.

Their website is in chinglish so I won't really trust what they deem is safe :)
 
You have probably already found and read it, but some interesting info in this thread on vortex on the haldex although you need to sift through it a bit!

Well see how this performs. My haldex is duff so I don't mind testing it to destruction. Once I gets a new haldex, ill be splitting mine open to see how and what i can do to keep it cool and modify it!
 
you need a working haldex gops as when you fit my device it will 70/30 all the time and not 50/50 when the haldex is meant to kick in.

I'll sill send you one to test so you can feel the 70/30 torque split
 
Oh it works, just I know it's not draining any oil for some reason. I was just saying I don't mind if something happens whilst testing it lol!
 
Its not something that needs constant adjusting is it so guess so. As long as the elements dont kill it. That fair?
 
Thats what i meant. Standard being what torque split ratio the insert is set at right? Or back to oem standard?
 
I think that's fine. If you was going on a track or drag strip, I'd be happy to get underneath and adjust!
 
i cant believe with all the computer/software geeks in the world, these things havent been hacked or reprogrammed.

50/50 at all times, then depending on the steering angle sensor readings it will progtressively allow slip in corners. then when steering angle goes back to 0 it re engages.
Effectively that would be the reverse of haldex now.

the ONLY time haldex is **** is when its slow and indecisive with hard cornering and fast driving.
With it working off so many sensors, say it starts to send to the rear at X steering angle, and X wheel speed difference, why cant those values just be lowered.
Im pretty computer illiterate but, it cant be that hard surely. A 0 here, a 1 there, its all binary BS

Why can't the eeprom from a Blue controller copied to another?
 
I don't think he *wants* $1800. I bet he'd take way less than half by the sounds of it. Which wouldn't be bad compared to what Blue ones seem to be going for at the moment.

As good as you make it all sound Karl, I want my haldex to be locked 50/50 in the turns. The difference between having haldex and no haldex on my car is night and day. I had to adjust my driving line to compensate for the lack of traction I had at CastleCoombe a few weeks back!

i didnt mean no haldex during corners, i just meant beyond a certain steering angle it should allow for different wheel speeds and slip what it needs.

without a centre diff, wont your rear wheels hop
 
The rears only hope if you moving slowly. Like parking.

I've never had mine hope under normal driving and cornering, only slow manoeuvres.

My haldex is locked 50:50 all the time even under braking.
 
Someone needs to look into removing the haldex box from the diff, fit a torsion diff and correct gear to the diff shaft and rock out with old skool quattro :eyebrows:

Sadly you can't fit a conventional differential (torsen or not) out back, as they work with 1 input and 2 outputs. Torque is introduced at one end of the diff (the casing usually), and then split between 2 outputs (the front and rear diffs) using whatever method. Out the back of an S3 there's only 1 input (the driveshaft), and 1 output (the rear diff), so there's no way of dividing the torque between the 2 differentials. It can be connected, not connected, or anywhere inbetween, but whatever you do with that connection, you can't have any bearing on what happens up front. Sadly the only way to achieve permanent 4wd with a functioning center diff is to include the center diff up front in the box like the true Quattro systems do on the longitudinal arrangements.
