Has any one had launch control on there s3 8l if so
Is it safe.
Im getting my s3 remaped at end of month and the guy
Doing it says he can put launch control and flat shift on it for
Extra £50 is it worth it and is it possible to do it

Im new to the site and would like to say hi to all

There is a few people on here that's had it mapped into the ecu me included

yes it's safe if used in moderation, can be a bit antisocial and not recommended using it on the public road

it can do damage to exhausts and clutch are the main things to go

Thanks for the reply much appreciated
Mite go for it for track days would the standard clutch b alright after a few launches
Or would it b shot after 1

Launch control and NLS can and will break things so use with caution...

Std clutch won't last 5 mins for launch and NLS mate... not trying to sound negative as I have this myself but launching a quattro S3 is very hard on everything...

I twisted a few of my driveshafts doing hard launches but i do have over 500bhp

TBH i don't know how long your clutch will last, is it new? what power are your running etc etc

i ****ed my turbo using launch and NLS, expensive way to show off imho

Not sure on power its got ko4hybrid turbo relentless v3 manifold and down pipe milteck decat and backbox
Badger5 tip cda air filter 4bar fpr forge fmic and recirclulater valve and blue haldex

I've been thinking about this recently.. Lately, when my ESP kicks in, my car burbles like an rs3 on launch.. But as soon as it gets traction it just launches off without lag.. So it must be some boost building esp? Can this not be used for LC?

To the O.P

they were asking if you had uprated rods, as with your list of mods you are running in the 290bhp + bracket or 290+ torques bracket and that is what we call " rod bending territory" ........... Very expensive damage to the engine if they go.

Not to bad if it goes got a spare s3 am braking in garage
Alot of work doing it but atleast i got spares lol

When people say launch control then is this as in a anti-lag system or is it just in the same was as holding throttle at 4500rpm??

Boost build launch is the official name for it really... uses an 'anti-lag' type approach to build boost at a defined rpm... the code holds the rpm at the mapped set point (4.5k on mine for example), the boost builds from the 'anti-lag' like stuff, drop the clutch and off you go...

Sounds sweet and looks quick what bhp is that running

at the time of the video, 400hp... currently nothing as the engine is on a stand and the new turbo in a box :)

So do you literally just drop the clutch and it goes or do you need to ride it a bit.
Do you know roughly how much HP the engine is making at launch?

I like this but I'm scared

No riding

Clutch down, acceloratoer to the floor, revving to 4500 and holding, clutch out and hold on

Have a look at your dyno graph to see how much power your making at 4500
