Jardo's 'Journey to quattro' - My Story...

I dunno, I think the name slayer is fairly appropriate.

I drove it the other night, and nearly died about 4 times, it was certainly trying it's best to slay me

My favourite part is when he actually says things you do are 'epic'

its like he doesn't realise you WILL take that as a compliment and use it to fuel your ego, before going to the 8p forum and annoying the **** out of everyone there .....

( I will get you to bite if I keep poking ;-)......)

Its taking a while to sink in that you actually bought an 8P...T..D..I.

This is you who loved the mk4 fwd chassis. And absolutely loves old cars and the prefacelift 8ls.

Jardo grown up since moving back in with mummy who makes his lunch for him.

Tbh sometimes I think fk it I want a nice newer car, not do much to it and just cruise around instead of wanting to drive fast all the time or something in an old tatty car.

Yeah man! I can't believe it either, I would never have guessed in a million years that I would have bought a diesel 8P.

I'm glad that I did though.

I still love the mechanical feel of the 8L chassis, and there are performance elements and driving feel attachments still there.

But I built a nice daily driver and took it too far, I made steps and got dillusional about building a track car which ruined it for what I do. Which is drive long distances at weekends and sneak in and out of the girlfriends house late at night.

Jamie is going to love it, and has already booked track days in it. So as sad as I am to see it go, I am over the moon that my work is not lost and that a good friend will benefit from it.

Jog on with the negativity Scott.

I only argue with people I don't like now haha.

You mean in his 8p stroking the red leather stitching, stairing at his MPG while listening to Good Charlotte.

First off whats wrong with good charlotte?

Second, can i ask WTF is wrong with owning the BEST A3 to date, best chassis, most amount of development time and money, awesome MPG and performance to mach a stock 18T (even 180 ARYs)

Thirdly why cant people just say, Well done mate, thats a beautiful car, rather than taking the ****

For the record (as already stated) Jardo called me and asked what i thought of the car, what they were like, i told him if he didnt buy it he was a ****, the car is light years ahead of his old A3 that he put a **** load of hours into, yes he may have had help from me and prawn but he was always there helping, when we changed his clutch (in the rain) he was there in shorts helping, when we changed the head he was swapping bits over and cleaning the block up

its not like the A3 was booked in to a garage and collected when it was finished

Jardo sorry for a rant on your thread dude

Anyway, i think its an awesome car, well done mate

No idea. Never heard their music.

It seems to be a raising norm between groups of friend.
Plus its Jardo.

And I feel he brings some of it on his own head not being able to take criticism and/or questions that goes against what he has stated and all this slayer, powerful A3 **** is getting old.
Have people stopped building cars for their own fun 'n games, hobbies and to get away from wife or build it to play childish "my dad is bigger than your dad" style of games?

Build your car for you, enjoy it for you. Who gives a **** if it's got more numbers, letters or less pound signs that some bloke with same model?

This whole section has got to *** clicky, political and gets the impression it belongs on a play ground of a office full of hormonal menstruating females.

Who cares, the joy of building cars, tracking them and just going "whoooo I done this, this happens and I really enjoy it" seems to be gone.

Jardo, you build/owned a a good quick car with a fkd up front bumper but you enjoyed and its yours. Weldone
Enjoy the 8p and make it yours but it's a 140, so the DMF is going to fail, the turbo will go pop, the injector loom will fail and something to do with oil pick up. So I guess the only thing it will slay is it self while listing to Stained self harming.

Phil, Ron is great colour. Fact end, mini adventure.

Prawn, the wood is still holding on and not caught fire. I take back my negative comments about it. when you doing the back? it looks a bit unfished from the side.

tired ramblings over.
night, peace, love, hate and I did you mother last night.

1. This is the reason the 8P forum is so much better, there's a guy called S3 Alex over there that gets AMD Essex to build his S3, you never see any of this childish "I built this, I built that, my nobs bigger than your nob" in that thread, it's simply appreciation.

2. No DMF won't fail if it's not mapped

3. Turbo will last a fair while if it's not mapped

4. Injector looms only fail on the 170's

5. oil pick ups are chain driven, as a result won't fail.

You know, you really shouldn't mock the 8p tdi, it's not as bad as you think. I actually praise it, coming from a problem child 1.8T the TDi is insanely good, I always thought I'd hate it, but infact really love it. Awesome car!

Not really mocking with any intent.
I really like the 8p TDI and would like one at some point but something like what Jardo got.
bit for now I'm torn between buying a cheap 8p or a 03 8L when the GTI dies.

I've know several mates with the 140 PD engine in several different chassis and each either had the DMF fail with no map, turbo gone and advised for the injector loom to be replaced (it was a recall notice I believe).
I guess it's like any car/engine there is good and bad that happens and points of scare mongering on the internet.
personally, buy a car you like with knowledge of said car to help the buying decision and enjoy it.
its bound to break, they all do.

I'm going to have a bowl of Krave for breakfast, the chocolate brownie one. It's really nice.

LOL that Anthony won't stop banging on about the fact that my car wasn't made in solitude with tools hewn from the mountains with only the light of my own burning hair to guide me. I'm so sorry for working alongside my friends in a nice enviroment, learning how to do things better and having a second set of eyes and ears to make sure everything has.been done properly, what was I thinking! You would have to be mad to have one of the best independent VAG specialists and probably the only person in the world who knows more than you as best friends, and not ask them for.help with your car.

All I have seen you do so far is drill holes in your bumpers, fit a bike grip as a handbrake grip and put some stickers on. Prawn seems to.be the one wiping.your **** for.you with anything which doesn't involve a simple bolt on and bolt off procedure.

People in glass houses pal.

Tl;Dr to everything above, apart from 40% Phils post.

Some ramblings from Scott which reminded me of this -

I've also got two friends that have 140bhp 2.0 TDI's both have a rattling DMF and both have had turbo's replaced BUT that aside lovely car mate

Same sh!t as always...

A whole page without some over instagram filtered pics of a cleaned car? Crazy times.

I can talk, all I seem to do is post car part pics :(

Right, Joe and I have tidied up this thread, and I hope enough time has elapsed for it to be safely released back into the public domain...

By way of a reminder, if you haven't got anything constructive or relevant to say PLEASE SAY NOTHING AT ALL!

Further rule breaking will not be tolerated, and there are only so many infractions people can be issued before Jase's ban button gets dusted off.

Thank you

Thanks Mods.

I know there was much deliberation about this thread coming back, and I understand that simply due to my nature and the nature of ASN that this is a breeding ground for arguments, infractions and heated debates.

But it is also a great resoure for A3 owners and K03 powered cars, and it is something I have invested years of my life updating and memorizing. Yeah it isn't exactly to Prawns standards; but it is the next best thing.

So thanks to the 54,000 people who have viewed this thread, the thousands of posts and 40 odd pages. Thanks for all your input over the last few years :) And the mods for it's many resurrections.

I hope Jamie will enjoy the slayer when he gets back from Holiday, and I hope he continues this thread for all of ASN so I can enjoy the progress and keep an eye on my baby.

Arguments aside, it's mainly only banter. Thanks guys.

What have you got now? (the real jardo slayer...)
Little Fiat 500. Horrendous lack of power but does the job for me, I do all town driving. Just kept picking up speeding fines in the A3! Abarth next time :)

I already think I am going to buy an 8P S3, can't be ***** to wait.

On the look out for a sub 12, white 8P S3. If I can find one, and get back what I paid for the diesel I will just do it.

Today I tried to race some bag of dicks in a convertible A5 TFSI, and barely managed to keep up.

This has destroyed my soul.
