Hi guys,

i have made many searches on the forum but I could only find answers for the 8L steering wheel.

I basically have the steering wheel in the image below:

and I am wondering if it was possible to change the steering wheel badge to a S3 one?
it currently has a TTRS badge in it from a retrofit I guess but I would like to get a S3 badge fitted.

is this a simple job? A matter of prying out the badge? Or must I physically take the wheel apart to get to the badge?
also does anyone have a part number for this? Or are they all the same size?

Any information is appreciated
Thanks
Will

I'm sure I read on another thread or Forum that you just pop out the badge with a small screwdriver, you can get S3 badges on ebay, cheaper than at Audi.

Sorry mate, can't seem to post the link, but type in Audi steering wheel badges and you'll see S3 badges, £27.99 + £5.99 p&p from Germany or you could do this, like mine.

From memory on another thread, wheel needs to come off to gain access to the rear of the insert you require.

I was told that you remove the air bag and carefully prise the complete 3 spoke chrome bezel off, as it holds the badge/blank. Not difficult, apparently. Use plastic trim removal tools!!!

Have the needles on you speedo been changed to white as well?
Lovely looking steering wheel though mate, it looks a bit chunkier thank the standard S3 FB wheel.

oh wow that looks ace mate!
how did you manage that?

I wouldn't mind that actually or if I can successfully remove my airbag I might just swap it over for a S3 badge :)

thanks for all the comments guys much appreciated :)

Hey mate,

Is there a how to on how to remove the airbag?
i think I will be trying to attempt this on the weekend :)

and JG51 AUD I found the S3 badge! Thanks mate although I didn't expect it to be that price!
by looking at the picture it looks like it just pops into place? Like clicks and locks into place?

actually can't wait for the weekend to come now to try pop off the airbag once I found out how to ^^

Thanks for the comments again
much appreciated :)

Carbon Fibre 4D wrap, it's so easy mate, apply it, heat it & trim it, simples.

Always disconnect the battery when removing airbag mate, you may need VCDS to clear any warning lights that may occur. I'm sure there's a thread on here somewhere, on how to remove airbag or steering wheel.

Good Luck

I got some gloss black vinyl spare which I might use to experiment with!
But if I just cover it won't the ttrs logo underneath come out too? Like an embossed effect? Because its not exactly flush if you know what I mean?

If you don't heat it to much or press down to hard when warm, the vinyl shouldn't show up the TTRS logo, give it a try, what have you got to loose. If you don't like it, you can alwawys peal it off and go back to your original idea of the S3 badge.
Someone told me to flush logo with "blu-tak" then cover, the blu-tak can be picked out if, again, you don't like it?

Mate the blue tack idea is ace,
thank you very much mate I'm going to wrap the ttrs logo sometime in the weekend :)
will post pics to show the results!

thanks again mate

I also have the ttrs wheel and replaced it with a sline badge, as advised you would need to take the airbag off and take out the chrome ring which holds black badge surround and badge itself.
When I changed to the sline badge I found that the size of the badges were different and needed the correct black surround too.

here is the thread when I did mine, you can see down the first page where I removed the badge holder

Hi Ash thanks for giving some advice :)
think I'm going to try the easy route first carbon or piano black wrap it.
if I don't like it I will then try to get the S3 badge.

Will post images once I've completed the wrap

cheers guys

As advised the black backplate for ttrs badge has a wider insert gap, given S3 is shorter than TTRS, so don't forget to order this aswell as S3 or even sline badge, before removing it all.

Many thanks
