I'm not sure if this is a repost but I can't find anything, so apologies if it is.

I've been trying to find a list of standard and optional extras for the B5/8D. I've contacted Audi and they was hopeless, kept telling me to talk to my local Audi for prices and available parts, which don't really help when I don't know what parts I'm asking them for.

I'm trying a different approach and asking the internet community cause they seemed to be better than dealers at the moment.

So can we build or locate a complete options list for the B5?

I'm not sure on the best way to do this but I guess anything that's away from basic spec.

My list at the moment is:
electric folding mirrors.
Heated seats.
RNS-d.
auto dimming mirror.
electric rear windows (for a PFL it's an extra).
TMC.
TV Tuner.
Cruise control.
Sport seats.

Other options that I can think off of the top of my head is:
auto dimming side mirrors.
Multifunction steering wheel.
Head light washers.

Can anyone think of any more?

I'm sure I found a list on Parkers or something similar along with the costs

I went on parkers and it looked like they don't list the B5 any more. Did a bit of digging and found it and they give you the option to pay £1.99 to view the optional extras and other infor on that car.

I wonder how good it is. Tempted for £2.

Anyone done this on parkers.

Thanks Adam, I'll take a look now.

This list I saw a couple of years ago sounds like the one there now charging for now, bit cheeky but if it is the same one it was quite informative. I found out my paradise green paint was a £2000 extra!! Can't remember what armrests etc were but seemed like everything was listed from the dealers optional extra catalogue. Like you say may be worth a try.

Footwell and door lights, 12v power supply in boot (avant), sports seats, centre armrest, aluminium roof rails, aluminium tread plates, heated washer jets (I wish)...

was it possible to specify a feature from a higher model - for example the Quattros had folding rear seats - would it have been possible for the owner of my SE model to have had that as an option?

of the same year?

I tried buying the brochure thing from Parkers but it just sat there on the processing screen.

All Avants have folding seats, and for some reason all quattro saloons have them too.

For FWD Saloons, folding seats was an option.

Looking at mine, they went for a basic TQS Estate (looking at the saloon list) with;
6CD Changer
Headlamp Washers (what is water filling control? level sensor?)

No idea why anyone would spec just headlamp washers.

And Ive added a centre armwrest off that list.

Has anyone ever seen one with a factory rear window blind?

Thanks for sharing.

yeah, it would be the level sensor.

it worked then?

SO far. :)

Was there an option for folding mirrors that fold in when you lock the car? The missus' car has them and I quite like the idea of them

also what is TMC?

I have rns-d fitted, splitting rear seats, heated recaros are on their way and an s4 front bumper with headlight washers on its way

still trying to find an arm rest though, and wouldn't mind privacy glass for the rear windows

The electric folding mirrors was an option from Canada I think. I got them retrofitted. I love em :)

TMC is for the traffic management and a canbus gateway so you can get satnav information on the DIS.

I recommend fitted blinds. removable and just as good.

electric folding mirrors ?? Talk to me lol !!

Were you source the parts from ?? Easy to do ?? Plug, code and play ??

No coding.
Just plug, wire and away you got.

You need a new mirror switch, Mirror relay from a A8, two mirrors normally found on ebay or GSF sells a pattern part with the electric bits in and its done.

Also very interested in these mirrors, especially if they fold in when you lock the car with the key fob

I did start to look in to that but caught up in something else.
I might start doing it again.

Search the B5 section for folding mirrors, there is several threads on it.

The best way to find out the specs for any given year IMHO are to obtain the official dealer sales brochures and see what each model has above and beyond the basic spec........
For cars as old as the B5 they should be cheap enough on Ebay, thats what I did a few years ago anyway.
My PFL '99 didn't have many extras above the SE equipment level, think it's just the metallic paint, leather and sunroof.

The big question is can the motor for the electric folding be shoe-horned into a non-motor mirror chassis? So a broken mirror could be a donor to your own non-motorised reflectors?

And hence can the bits be used from another generation? Depending on area, each generation seems to have shortages which would be better if you were not limited by generation.

You on about wing mirrors?

I don't think they can.
The mounting brackets for the motors, cable runs are missing and all the other cogs and bits in the hinge.

I've done a fail amount of rebuilding to get the cables through as required, and physically fitting can be surprisingly easy if the mirror chassis has the capability for folding motors. But it was a long shot.

It's always a hope against the likelihood. Since the controllers within a generation vary so much you have to pick between them to find just the model that supports some function, the chance that a mirror folding motor might fit across generations is almost beyond belief.
But since there are some on this forum that do play with different generation cars, they might have noticed that (say) B5 and B6 are the same outboard of the hinge.
Thanks for the info.

Thanks, Scott, this makes it clear that the chassis outboard of the hinge is quite different, in order to provide for the folding motor and gearing, but that everything else seems to match to allow the rest of the mirror hardware to be moved from one to the other.

Don't forget the local importer can spec "Packs" or "bundles" I had an A3 1.8T sport from new in '98. Audi UK offered a £500 (vs £1150 ish list) climate option but you didn't get the (standard) sunroof. They also had (IIRC) some sort of "lux" pack - remote locking and BOSE stereo.

Your headlight washers may have been part of a "winter pack"...?
