First time with machine Polish on black a3

First off I've tried to join detailingworld. Signed up but not been activated. E-mailed them three times now and still no response. Checked spam folder in e-mail. If anyone know how to get them to activate me.

Right after reading a post on detailingworld about buying a cheaper sander as a cheap alternative to a das6 or similar.
So I got myself a macallister orbital sander from b&q. I've ordered a black hex finishing pad. I've got Meguiars ultimate compound, maxolen super 3, autoglym srp, poorboys blackhole, and meguiars clay.
I have light swirls and odd deep scratch. Think some scratches have Polish in them which is making them more obvious. Was gonna start with black pad and black hole and see how I get on thinking I can't do no damage with that combo. After that what would you recommend for correction. I was thinking poorboys blue or white pad and super Swirl remover. Any thoughts?

not to sure about the sander tbh. products wise you have a wide variety. PB black hole is a glaze so wont do much but mask swirls so you want to use the megs UC , ag srp or the maxolen super 3 which is an all in one then you could use the PB BH if required
audis are hard paint so good luck but i would get the das6 if you need to sell it later you'll not toil to sell and get good money back on it where as the sander??

I've already brought sander but get ur point about a das6 holding value. My brother in law has a rotary so correction can be done with that.
I'm just looking for waxes and glazes. I was disappointed with black hole by hand and everyone seems to say u need to use a machine to get best from it. That's why I ordered sander and black finishing pad. Just wondered what other people though/do.

I have left a link to detailing world on another thread on here called professional machine polish . Have a look at the link . That's my car having a full paintwork correction done . If you go right to the bottom of the link . The detailer has left his contact details he is a real nice lad will give u some good info and will tell you what to use and he sells some very good stuff aswell .

That's what I want mine to look like. Deep wet shine. Mine isn't swirly just flat. Great post though ta enjoyed reading

Just to add im not sure how familiar you are with detailing etc.

But I would strongly suggest if you going to attempt to machine the car you best clean it correctly and when I say this im refering to clay baring the car and removing any other contamints otherwise you going to make your pads very dirty and wont last very long either.

And if you machine paint that has not been clayed and decontaminated. You are kinda looking for trouble. Especially on a black car.

Good stuff Just go easy on first go and make sure the clay is nice and warm.

And dont work too big of an area, and always fold the clay over as much as you can.

Even if you did micromar it which most likely will happen if you are not experienced with clay. The machine polisher will remove it anyway.

The best way I've found is a bit of trial and error using the lowest cut polish first, and seeing how well (and quickly) it gets rid of the swirls. Then work up to a polish with a higher cut and then a harder pad if required.

The best other investment you can make before polishing IMHO, is a good set of lighting. I can recommend a cheap set of twin halogens on a tripod ... they will let you see the swirl removal straight away.

How long do pads last?
