So as you could probably tell from my other threads, I'm having a bit of a battle with my car recently, it seems to be that it's one problem after the other, and I'm starting to feel at this point it's never going to be right. So I thought I would ask for your guys thoughts and what you might do in my situation.
My problem is, the car has had approximately £4000 spent on problems since I bought it in January, it's had the following done to it:
I got the car for a very good price, it's literally got every extra and because it's the 170 Sportback, it's probably going to be quite a sought-after A3 if I was ever to sell it. As it stands if I add what i've spent on the car with what I bought it for, it probably works out at what I would of payed if everything was okay.
Now, I expect to keep it for 2 more years, and fully expect to have to spend another 2k on it, but from what I can work out, the difference between when I sell it in 2 years and if I was to sell it now, wouldn't be massive, so I should probably just see it through. And if I was to sell it now, the money I would get, wouldn't be enough to get a similar specced car.
Can anyone agree with this "logic", or am I just plain stupid and should sell up now?
On a "side" note, I understand that tuning is never an "investment", but a modified A3 2.0TDI in 2 years time, e.g. with a reputable development kit or something of the likes, is that going to increase the value (as long as it's all done properly) or make no difference. I understand the prospective market will be shrunk, but for a car so highly specced, with a well known tuning companies badge on it, should make it a item of interest, maybe?

- New Clutch
- New DMF
- New Boost pipes
- Crankshaft Sensor
- Top engine rebuild
- Timing belt
- New turbo (I think)
- Propshaft bush, causing resonance which is getting worse
- Engine startup sounds rough - had another 2.0TDI stood next to it and the difference was night and day
- Turbo will probably need to be done in the next few months
- New suspension / bushes
- Misc things, glovebox has snapped off, Bose sub rattles like crazy, rear passenger door doesn't open from the outside, lighter socket doesn't work
