I have RS4 wheels with Dunlop SportMaxx RTs all round. They rub a little bit on the rear over speedbumps etc. Front tyres are almost done, rears have 5mm so will last ages. I was thinking of fitting 225s on the rear and putting the existing 235s on the front until they are done. Hopefully the slightly narrower/less height 225s will stop the rubbing. Obviously it seems a bit wrong to have wider tyres on the front than rear. Any comments?

i was told with quattro you should have the same size tyre all round for safety.
if you have quattro that is.

170TDI non quattro, what you say makes sense but. Legally the sizes just need to match across the axle.

Does it mean you might be prone to oversteer rather than understeer? Not sure! Maybe someone else can answer

is there nor arch lining/bumper screws to remove in rear arch to stop the slight rub? but i wouldnt imagine there being much problems with your plans for the time being if your not one to rally car about like a loon :racer:

Tell that to RS3 lol:laugh:

Is no problem with 235 in front and 225 on rear with haldex system!

TBH I haven't even looked, only had the wheels on a few weeks and they don't rub that often unless car is fully loaded. One of my fronts is at 2mm which prompted my question. Planning on moving to 225s all round anyway as they are 20% cheaper than 235s. Don't really want to buy 4 tyres now as I have 3 with 4-5mm tread.

Thats incorrect A standard RS3 runs 235/35/19 on8j wheels on the front and 225/35/19 on 8j wheels on the back with an option of running 255/30/19 on 8.5j wheels on the front. The front wheel arches are wider on the RS3 than the rest of the A3s but a lot of us including myself run 235/35/19 on 8j wheels all-round .

O... well thankyou for that, just when i was finding out about sizes i got told this. obviously incorrectly but it made sense to a noob lol.

Is there any modding needed for 235's all round? and just a spacer for eg?
