A small project

could you not just connect a test meter up to one of the glow plugs when the engines cold and then turn the ignition on and see if there is power going to them? earth it off the body and the live to the glow plug

Did not think of that.
I'll do that.

Or stick a 5w bulb between the bolt (terminal) end of the plug, and the body ground :)
Sod that. I'll get my metre out.

so Scott when are you going to start making up wiring adapters for this?

never.
I'll help people out but making looms is a right pain in the ***.

I'm not sure many people would really want to spend the extra time and effort fitting facelift clocks cause of the oil sensor?

Massive thanks to @udiA3 for sorting out my miles.
They are now reading correctly.
I was unable to do this with vagtacho or vagcommander but he did it first time, no errors.
See him if you want your car clocking.

But really don't, its illegal and people gets in to trouble, so only do it when you swap clocks. :)

To finish this little project off I need to fix my DIS screen and tidy up the wires at the back.
Due to weather getting crap and winter really setting in, the wires will have to wait till next year.

Might be worth moving on to the next little project

Grey area, use to be legal to do it, but not with the intent to gain money from making the car appear of more value etc. I have read a few people being prosecuted now though for doing the clocking not only the tradesmen that sell the motors.

Cheap vagtacho = fail :D

Must be something wrong with scotts cheap vagtacho, as it wouldnt read the SKC either. Mine read the SKC and altered the mileage just fine on an immo3 cluster.

Not much happening this at the moment.
Mainly just testing it and planning my next move to wire up all the doors, boot, bonnet, clean the wiring up behind clocks, removing the converter cable and fitting a new DIS screen.

@udiA3 sorted out my miles at ADI, so that's all done.

It is just sit back and enjoy this view for now

I might make the adapter looms but they are a bit of a pain cause I need PFL clocks to take the plugs from and FL loom with plugs and several inches of loom, more cable the better for you.
It takes me a whole day to make the loom, so it wont be something I'll do for free on the odd free weekday I get, it will be a saturday or sunday when I got the whole day free, so it can take me some time to do it.
I might talk to Kufatec and some others and see if they are interested in it.

Hi Scott I'm going to be getting a B5 S4 a week tomorrow and it currently has the anologue clocks in it, would it still need a loom making up to be able to use digital clocks from a facelift S4?

Thanks
Matt

Hi Matt,

You'll need a oil level sensor in your sump and a loom.

The looms are a bit of a pain cause you have to distroy a set of clocks to make, that's if you want to it reversible and plug 'n play.
The main stopping point for people is fitting a oil level sensor, without that its going to be an annoying cluster swap.
