Audi aux some diy needs doing

Hi guys

I finally managed to fit a aux connection to the car and the way I have the 3.5mm hanging out makes the head unit not fit in snuggly so I need to do abit of chizzling/cutting of the head unit to get a snug fit.

Because of the the material of the plastic of the head unit I'm not sure what I can use to cut abit of the material off, would anyone know what tool would be most effective?

I would use the switch blank next to the ESP switch to exit that cable if I were you, but if you want to hack the head unit a Dremel or equivalent is probably the best bet.

Nice idea of the blank such after work Il check if that I can manage to run my hands through there

I ran mine downwards behind the climate control and out where most people have an ashtray in the centre, forward of the gearstick (mine has no ashtray)

Could you not somehow feed it up from behind the head unit and into the air vent? That would hide all the wire except for the tiny bit between vent and phone.

My OCD would make me find a better solution than this

Run it to next the handbrake and have a female connector there, make it look oem!

Thanks guys! It's very hard to run through the air vent! As for the female connector that would make it look much smarter but it's very hard going to the blank =S

An airvent is a sealed unit... You could do that if you want to muck up your circulation...

if you want keep it where it is.. Then blanking plate and some cable ties behind the bracket, is your best option + its easier to replace a blanking plate than it is to hide a notch in the dash...

Thanks for all the tips and advice guys really appreciate it. I decided to go the blank button route and credit where due, with great advice from Jacko I managed to clean it up in under 30mins.very happy with the job just going to get some cable tie and wrap it behind the holder tmrw.

Looks good.. couple of cable ties will finish that off quite nicely :thumbsup:
