New clutch and flywheel but new problem. HELP NEEDED !!!!

Hi guys

I had a brand new clutch, flywheel and release bearing fitted to 2007 1.9 TDI Sportback. The car feels ten times better than before but its seemed to have created another problem. Sometimes when I start the car the gearbox jumps and the whole car shakes, the noise that it makes is as if the flywheel is stuck or something. The closest thing I can describe it to is that felling the car makes when its about to stall because you haven't pressed the clutch or put the gear into neutral when coming to a stop.

Its come to a point where I don't want to drive the car anymore because its sounds like I'm damaging something every time I start it. My mechanic checked everything agin but didn't see anything unusual, but he said it could be one of the mountings but would a worn mounting cause this problem. Do any of you guys know what the issue may be or how to solve it, any input or suggestions would be greatfull.

I'm sorry that you have problems like that. I would suggest that you try to talk to another mechanic for second opinion, it;'s strange that mountings are finished if they were ok before you changed flywheel.

Did you put the original flywheel?

The gearbox mount wasn't shagged before & changing the parts mentioned shouldn't cause this, unless the mount hasn't been aligned very well.

There is a procedure I know the audi tech's use so its all centered instead of just bolting it all up, I do wonder if he's not done this correctly if he did indeed unbolt these things, but personally I would move the engine gearbox side & see how much play there is.

A brand new clutch was fitted along with a new flywheel so flywheel wouldn't be original one. My mechanic said that the mountings where fine but fitting a new one may solve the issue, but he did mention that the lower mounting had a very tiny crack in it but wasn't big enough to cause any issues.

To be honest he probably did just bolt the mountings back on but would a misaligned mounting cause a problem like this, I thought the problem would be more to do with flywheel.

So by the mechanics own admission, it would indicate something he's done is causing this, as he doesn't consider the mounts the problem.

It does seem that way. I know for sure it's something to do with what my mechanic has done because before the new parts where fitted I never had this issue. It's just a case of finding what he has done wrong because even he's bamused.
