It's a mule, i.e they've used the body off an S3 as a disguise but if you look closely the brake discs are drilled and the calipers are larger plus the air intakes at the front are functional whereas they're not on an S3.

Is it wrong for me to be thinking about an RS3 before my S3 is even built?

Guessing the Merc A45 things have shaken things up a bit - people don't want to wait until the end of a cars life cycle (5 years odd) before getting the performance model......

From memory I remember seeing RS3 pictures way before the last one was released, like a good two years before.

I got a feeling this will be out next year. The current A6 was launched early 2011 and mid 2013 the RS6 was available - so guess if we worked on this timelines we will see the RS3 next year?

I think the 8V RS3 will be out a lot sooner than the 8P was.

The days of RS models coming at the end of the product life cycle are over, I think.

Wouldn't surprise me if it comes out sooner. The RS models spearhead Audi's marketing these days. The more the better.
