Got invited by Grimsby Audi to Cadwell Park yesterday to drive the latest S and RS models.

They had 2 S3's doing hot laps around the track and I can confirm they look really good and sound very nice too! It's the first time I've seen one in the flesh, although they were both sportbacks I'm pretty glad I've ordered a 3 door. The interior is a massive step up from my 8P S3 and I spoke to the driver who was a pro driver (not from Audi) and he said it's a very impressive car even on track.

I chose to drove the RS4 and RS6, it was unbelievable, they threw you the keys for a 45min test drive around the roads around Cadwell Park. The RS6 is a proper machine, although I had my wife and 8 week old baby in the back so didn't get chance to really hammer it. But even the slightest tickle of throttle was comically fast!

As for the RS4 I went out solo and can only describe the test drive as epic! That is an absolute weapon and any journalists reviews saying it's not that good I don't know what planet they are on! You could never tire of taking it to 8500rpm and hearing the throttle blip on downshifts!! I tried to follow the test route they gave but ended up finding my own, consequently finding some very good deserted B roads. I felt a bit sorry for it really getting that thrashed with only 300 miles on the clock, but I guess they're built for that!!

Anyways, if anyone get's an invite to an Audi showcase in the future, snap their hand off, a brilliant day, very well organised and quality snap too!!

Need to get saving for an RS4 now.......

That sounds awesome. I had the chance to go to an AMG track day organised by Bedford Mercedes a few years back and it was just as fun. It was at milbrook test track, you may have heard of it... It's quite famous.

We had all of our cameras and phones taken off of us because of all the top secret testing of unreleased cars, saw plenty in disguise. There was also a lot of military equipment roaming around which I made a point of going nowhere near! I didn't fancy crashing into a challenger 2 tank!

As well as reaching 180mph in a CLS 63 on the banked loop I also got the chance to get some air off of the hill that James Bond flips his Aston in Casino Royale!

At the end got taken out by a mclaren test driver in a c63 black and omg! I genuinely didn't know cars could stick to the road like they do.

All in all just like geefunk I'd recommend biting the dealers hands off when offered an opportunity like this.

Yeah a few years ago my mate got invited to a Lamborghini day at Milbrook and I went along. Got to drive a Gallardo around the entire place including the alpine test route and hit 175 from a standstill on the mile straight! It was great fun and all free!
The highlight of the day was they had a Veyron there, they'd only just been released and I got took out for a passenger ride. Ridiculous. I'd been in some quick stuff but that thing is simply a space rocket. Also met Gordon Ramsey, top bloke and likes his cars.

Damn ... I got an invite to this and did not go - thought it would be the usual limited restricted drive ... but sounds not !

If they do another one and I get an invite I will probably go now.

Sounds like it was really good.

To be honest I was quite shocked at getting thrown the keys to £100k + RS6 with the only instruction being "try not to crash it".

I guess most people take "test drive" as just that. Me being keen like most people on here take that as "thrash the s**t out of it".

Wow awesome would have loved that

how do people get invited to these things ?

Simon

Ordered a new S3 and currently own an 8P S3 which I bought both from Grimsby Audi (JCT600). I guess they look at what cars people have and know they'd be interested.
There was some serious motors in the car park too.
