Hi all, I am new here and I don't have my A3 yet but am getting it soon. I couldn't have managed without my Focus Haynes manual as Autodata doesn't contain that kind of info but there is no Haynes for the 2008-2012 A3.

I have heard about Elsawin, does that software contain guides and photos on how to maintain various parts of the A3?

Also what kit is required to connect to the diagnostics port to read and wipe error codes and view all other useful data? I have heard about VAG so assume my ODBII scanner won't work. Is this kit expensive and does it work with ScanmasterELM?

Thanks

The scanner is called VCDS. User NHN sells them at a fair price.

Universal OBDII scanners will work still, but only to read/clear faults. VCDS you can log and re-code things such as cruise control etc.

I looked at several forums before deciding to join this one, I like the fact it's free too, I was on the ffoc site for my focus which cost me something like £20 for a year and I only visited a few times. Getting quite excited to get my A3 now and get started on some subtle styling mods and my ICE.

There will be no shortage of ideas for mods on here, we will help you spend your hard earned cash, lol.

Fortunately I am looking at an S Line Black edition so most the styling will be done already, hopefully the bits I want to do aren't too expensive ;)

we have site sponsors in here that cover everything from retrofits to tuning, bulbs etc. the site sponsor list is located at the bottom of the main forum page. as you say s-line will have most of the important stuff already as standard. :) x
