A4 B7 2.0 TFSI HIGH REVING DURING GEAR CHANGE

Hi all ,
Just thought I would put a few minds at rest as it did mine. Just spent £950 on a new (vanos unit )cam balancer and the engine puuuurrrrrs. However , noticed that when I depressed the clutch the revs increased up to 1000 rpm when changing up from 1st to 2nd gear and about 600 rpm in all other gears. Thought at first I was driving like a vicar but read a few threads and the word clutch switch was mentioned.
Just had one fitted for £25 , and now I realise that I wasn't driving like a vicar. Brilliant cheap fix , thanks to all the info available here and the time and effort taken by my fellow Audi fans writing it up.

Hi, looks like your car is identical to mine including the colour. I took the car to RC Motors on the Wrexham industrial estate. If you contact them on01978 661706 and ask for Mark he can provide you with the part number you require .

OK, got part yesterday from Audi Stockport, £16.15 all in.
Just fitted in less than 10 minutes.

3 bolts to remove - 1 under the fuse cover at the side of steering wheel and 2 down towards pedals.
Whole panel then just comes out with a bit of wiggling (the panel not me)
Un-clip electrical connector and turn clutch switch anti-clockwise and remove.
Insert new clutch switch, turn clockwise until you hear click, re-connect electrical connector.
Put panel back in place and 3 bolts, jobs a good un!

Has it solved your problem. Mines so much better, thought it was new clutch time but just a new switch was a massive relief.

I haven't really noticed much difference as my issue was not that obvious, but I haven't seen the revs sticking between gear changes yet since I changed it.

Hi, i have the same problem and even after clutch pedal switch replaced, it made no difference... what else could it be? Thanks

Aha thanks guys. I just changed my brake switch which drained my battery and was told I should have changed my clutch switch at the same time. Will get one ordered as the rev increase thing was doing my head in.
