Winter Wheels and Tyres

Hi

my first post as an 8P S3 owner...

has anyone opted for winter wheels and tyres for their S3?

The Audi dealer I bought my 2009 S3 from recommends 6Jx17 ET48 wheels.

Im not sure whether to got for these or just get an extra set of standard wheels and fit them with winter tyres.

Any thoughts?

Andrew, faced with a trip to northern Italy, I opted for winter tyres fitted to an extra set of ordinary 16" alu rims. As standard my A3 is fitted with 225/45 - 17 rims with Pirelli Zero Rosso ZR 91W tyres. My winter tyres are Hankook 205/55 -16, H91 W310. Earlier this year I was in Italy on the winter tyres, on both ice and snow. Absolutely fantastic experience, no slipping and sliding, and great breaking too. Glad I made the change, really made the difference and increased confidence. On top of that my tyre/rim supplier will change over the wheels each year for me at no cost. Highly recommended.

Im already a convert Ive had extra sets of winter wheels and tyres for my last couple of cars they are great. Just not sure what size to go for...

Have had a set of tyres and wheel for all my cars in the past 6 years. Really good choice.

A few weeks back, bought a set of mint 17" alloys and had some part used 5.5mm threaded Mech Alpin4's 'V' rated tyres put on. All for £330.
Figured as I do not do many miles in winter, buying new set of snow tyres was a bit OTT.
