Milltek query

My milltek system on the centre section between downpipe and non-resonated pipe has a perforated lining in the exhaust at the front were it meets the downpipe but hasnt at the rear of that section.

if i removed the welds do you reckon it will slide out with a little persuation ??

and also will it make any more noise and aid flow a bit better ??

just curious as thinking of removing it to see if i can change the exhaust tone as im a bit bored of the noise it makes at the minute it seems to quiet for a non res system wether its just because i drive it and never actually hear it fly past on full wot !!

No its the middle box thats 'res' and just a pipe if 'non res' now when i fitted i noticed the perforated insert now im thinking they install this to make the exhaust quiter and sound more sporty.

i guess theres no harm in trying if no change ill just get it welded back on for if i ever sell it on (not planning to EVER !!) want to keep this car till it disintegrates or blows up lol

Mine is a milltek non-res and it's loud. But then it's still new to me, so I'm perhaps not used to it. I've wondered what it's like at full pelt also, from the outside. But not had chance to hear it drice past me yet...as I'm always in it.

I have a resonated Milltek on my FWD, always fancied the non resonated but can't get the pipe Ordered what I was told from Milltek and it was totally wrong so got sent back

With the FWD do you not just need a 180' bend of pipe were the two in/outs are for the middle box ?? And some sort of hanger ??

I forgot you had videos of it. It's nice to hear it now I own it and am used to it. It's a lot different sounding in the cockpit going by that video.

totally agree the video has a nice raspy burble to it where as in the cabin its a drown/boom noise !

yeah it does done. Shame you can't have the outside sound inside

I also forgot to add mine is running a decat and doesnt seem all that loud for a non res milltek !!

think im going to remove the perforated pipe and see if it changes tone if not i might have the back box opened up and the internals removed !!

also thinking that when i go bigger injectors/maf and remap it will change the tone some more but shall see how it pans out !

be good to here yours to compare them crazy88 as your not to far from me will have arrange something !! Might see if my misses will do me a vid of the exhaust noise from the outside doubt she will though lol

Nope, I love it too much haha. It's in getting the cam belt done today and I'm collecting it tomorrow morning and I actually miss it haha! I had to drive the wife's b6...its not as nice.

I run the THS performance decat but people have run the ebay ones though !!

The THS one i have is abit wonky as i had to heat up where the back nut under the manifold goes on as it would hit the pipe and not tighten anymore and wasnt sitting flush with the flange, you may not have this problem if you order one from ths or ebay but it may occur as i also had to drop the turbo to manifold bolts to get on the nut with a stubby spanner as a socket wouldnt go over the nut !!

So every time i drop the turbo i leave it attached

Oh and just read my sig ive listed a few mods lol

Just downpipe back is different between FWD and Quattros !!

so you have removed the resonator pipe? , probably won't make much difference tbh.

No its in the centre pipe just before the middle box/res pipe as mine already had non res system so is a pipe with no box and i noticed it had the perforated pipe so thought id remove it !!
