What have you done today?

Aragorn?
He has like 20 of the things.

I've decided I need to sell my xcarlink, double din dash parts and stereos. Need to raise some funds.

think aragorns are all 7J mine are the 8J votex boleros with ET35 offset !!

Started my control arm and spring replacement, wasn't looking forward to the pinch bolt as I've had the car 3 years and they have never been touched in my ownership, but they just fell out

ive had ones fall out that I thought would be a nightmare then other ones have been a pure c*nt.

love the look of you're spring compressors. any more info on them?

There a good spring comp, we had one at work with different size cups for bigger/smaller spring but thent went missing so we now have the one thats got a foot pump and on a stand so changing springs is easy , on the other hand theres the pnematic ones which make it a doddle with no effort involved

That is a lovely spring clamp. Bests my £5 job from motorworld lol.

I got my nav display working on my DIS.

Time to order up a new screen and fix my DIS.
Then I can sit down proper wire the clocks in.

I borrowed them from a mate at work who used to be a vw master tech, so he has a few bits knocking about still which helps alot with this car!! Only problem is he's lost the cups for the smaller springs, so I'll be using the finger gamblers tomorrow!

Not no anyone at any local garages who would clamp them up on there dinner rather than using the threaded bar and hook type be alot easier and just slip them a tenner ??

Not around here, I do about 40 miles away which usually isn't a prob, but the mot has lapsed and as its mostly M25 its not worth the risk

my vacuum bleeder arrived today so hopefully if its dry tomorrow ill get the clutch bleed up on the seat and start getting it put together.

if anyone's interested.. just under £21 on eBay and I couldn't get one from the sealey agent for under £29.. when I told him about the price on eBay he told me to buy it..

Replaced the inner drivers door handle today, noticed a while ago it had a a fair bit of play on the leaver, figured at first it was the bowden cable which I also replaced but it turned out to be the spring on the back of the leaver. The bit that surprised me was the cost of the replacement was only £26 figured Audi would charge around £50....

The revised part number with a stronger spring is 8D2 837 020 A 1EJ Note the 1EJ is for Onyx trim colour, from the looks of etka all other colours where dropped in 2008 without replacement.

The spring that snapped, no idea where the missing bit is!

Also don't replace the bowden cable unless you have to, it was a bit of a sod trying to do it without stripping down the door completely.

did you buy a whole new handle?

Better off collecting some handles from breakers and just swapping the spring over!

You have to buy the hole unit as shown the in the top photo. The spring could easily be replaced placed, but from looking at the broken unit I have here I don't think the handle could not be remove without damaging the plastic.

my drivers handle has some slop now i no bot to strip the door down :) i flap it about to tunes stuck in traffic at the mo lol

Yer that is what I could do, and it started to annoy me, I don't like when things are broken on me car. As Aragorn say it would be cheaper just to replace the spring, but i didn't think of that, also there are no facelift B5's at any of my local breakers.

snap !! my local scrappers only has PFL really so bit crap when i need trims etc

Avant was in local garage today to have rear arms changed as tracking was out. Apparently they were seized. Just passed MOT last month, but needed new rear tyres, so worth it in my opinion otherwise they'll wear prematurely. Tomorrow I need to renew front brake hoses. Bleed'n cars!

Can't afford a 2010 A4 allroad I've spotted locally for sale... one day though! :tumble:

Yeh the handle springs are the same on PFL and FL, and you can use rear door handles to fix the front doors too!

Well there on !!

Fitted two front flexi brake hoses. Had to use heat on one nut to free it. Otherwise plain sailing... which for me is highly unusual!

Finally got round to finishing my double din swap with a rns-d

null_zpsd048ce0f.jpg

Now one I need to find time to prep and paint the s4 skirts/trims and front bumper

my heated black recaros should be here in a couple days too, can't wait to get them fitted, miss them from my old a6

Bradderz, was it stock TQS or 312mm that you removed?

What size are the S4 (?) brakes that you fitted? Im thinking of doing the 312mm swap on mine.

How are you finding the new brakes?

i removed 312mm brakes and swapped for the S4 B6 345mm, the 312's are sold to crazy88 and they are better than the stock 288mm TQS brakes if your going to go that route, and the B6 S4's are bedding in nicely think when i get the facelift S4 300mm upgrade on it will be better all round as it feels as though the rears aren't doing much at the minute lol !!!

I bought the replacement for Blue Thunder, so the strip down is finally going ahead after countless false starts! Keep your eyes peeled for my parts thread over the next month or two. Absolutely everything had been upgraded on Blue Thunder!

What is the replacement? Another s4? Another Audi? Or something completely new?

Intrigued!

I've unblocked the drain holes in my scuttle. 4 inches of water at the deepest point. No wonder I had accelerator sensor issues!

My god! Fixing the blocked sunroof drains wasn't an easy job!
Interior stripped, roof lining down, draining blown through with air and now working as they should. Pretty sure the nipples at the end of the drains need cutting off but they can wait til it's warm weather as the bumper and arch liner need to be off

Massive thanks to dualmono for his help. Total legend!!!
He also scanned the car for me and no faults on it. This was a massive weight off my mind!!!

Next things to do are 710n's as it looks like the original dv's are still on and then remap

Dropped the car off at the MOT station.

Rack, I think S3 people are going back to the OEM DVs and I don't think they've had any issues or negative effects to their performance or map.
I think it even improved it.
