Hi guys, I'm trying to code my bluetooth kit I have fitted to my car however I borrowed a friends cable and laptop and we can't get the laptop to read the car the cable. We connect to to his a3 (57plate) and it works first time then when we connect it to mine it won't connect.... Mine is a sportback tdi 170 (59plate).... Surely if it was laptop or cable settings it would not work on my friends car.... But it works on his but not mine... I'm pretty stumped and I've done a search on here and Google and can't find anything any help would be appreciated....

Software is new he has a certificate but the cable is blue I'm thinking it maybe non genuine!?
 
If it's a non genuine cable make sure your Internet is disconnected!

Cool... Buy the right cable and support the fantastic work VCDS give.
I personally will boycott counterfeits and their users...

Its a personal opinion expressed for the majority, its frowned upon asking advise with conterfeit vcds, In respect of the sponsor who sells official cables as a member on here

guys before you get on your high horse you may see for one, i am asking about the cable or options for all i know it 'maybe' genuine i couldnt tell you what a genuine cable looks like..... so for me to be promoting counterfeiting your MAJORLY wrong i am simply asking what could be wrong by all means someone post a pic of a genuine kit, but the lad in question paid £100 for the kit with certificate.....

for me to go out and buy a cable and kit for £250 just to activate bluetooth is stupid, i may not be well known on here or post much but i have been on here a while! I am well known on ford sites for yrs for helping people and getting parts made and reproduced etc etc im no tight **** just SIMPLY asking for advice as this stuff is new to me... i was the one who got the AH fabrications intercoolers sorted for users before on here......

So its good to see more people on here jumping on me than actually trying to help.....

Have a look on the VCDS users map to see who is near to you ,who will be able code it correctly.
 
thanks guys, one of my customers is a mechanic and has the actual dealer version so can do it but hes been busy the last week. This other chap offered to lend it me in the mean time while i wait for him to turn up... i just wasnt sure whether is was me or the car or something silly... my brother said the lad who lent it me may not be 'can' or something ?? As said im a little new to it and unsure whats what just yet...
 
OK update my mechanic came just now and plugged us in and straight in we have followed the guide on here and the phone connects and works fine all good ,,

HOWEVER the mode button does not seem to be working or to scroll through the contacts, please bare in mind we did this in 5 mins as he was in a rush so we didnt have time to go through everything more deep, can anyone advise what we need to do/change!? i presume its a option in the steering wheel? But the volume and speak button are working fine....

mystery solved i followed the guide in the forum, step 4 was incorrect the code should be 0001222
