2013 Audi S3

Not a fan either...of Estoril Blue (or Racing Yellow), but then my order is for a Monsoon Grey S3 3dr - probably not to most people's liking. Would be dull if we all picked the same colour though...

I'm a big fan of Monsoon, one of Audi's best colours.
Have it on my S5.

Another great vid too !

Audi get a lot of things right and paint colours and light designs are two areas they excell at IMO.

Really love estoril - but take other colours such as Daytona grey, misano red, etc they are superb colours and really different.

Audi lights are also some of the best on the market.

Don't get it - even looking at the video's.
Seen Estoril on an S5 and doesn't look good if you ask me.
I don't necessarily dislike the colour, it's just really bad at showing off a cars lines IMO.

I love how everybody tiptoes around the issue of colour! Each to their own I say. Get what you like and don't be offended if somebody doesn't agree!

I'm a panther black guy, that's my order and I can not wait! Others may call it common, well I like the stealthy sporty look it gives. Especially as I've ordered mine in conjunction with the anthracite alloys and black styling pack!

P.s. If anybody now lays into my choice of colour then we've got a problem :p

That's the case with most dark colours, darker colour cars like estoril blue sparkle better when cleaned than lighter cars.

I agree, who cares about colour, it's so subjective. What does count is the fantastic car underneath it all!

I don't think Estoril shows off a car to it's best whether clean or dirty.
Black and Grey do a far better job of highlighting the lines.
All my opinion of course, having had a good look around a S5 in Estoril (both inside the show room and outside in sunshine), before I ordered my S5.
Might do a better job on a smaller car, but I can't see it from the video's or pictures of the S3.

All that said, it matters not a jot what I think, as long as you are happy!

After seeing that white S3 I'm sooooo glad I've opted to get the full LED headlights, the look absolutely wicked!

how good does the Misano red saloon look !!
not to many people getting excited about the saloon .
Pics or sprint blue at show look awesome but £2250 for special order paint is a bit rich but I'm tempted!!

Agreed, saloon looks like a mini RS4.
It is definitely the best looking out of the three variants.
I actually think the SB S3 looks better than the 3 door too, gives the car a more purposeful look.

Its good everyone doesnt want the same car colour, or even the same number of doors. I would hate for one colour to become to popular.

The saloon is a really nice car and I think will make it hard for people to buy the A4 or S4 over it unless that little bit extra space is really important, especialy with the improved cabin.

I prefer (as expected as thats what I ordered) the sportier look of the 3 door and the Estoril paint being an exclusive S paint (and nice link the namesake of the race track) did help a little. Also the blue really sparkles and I like its exclusivity and how the mirrors and silver trim stand out against it. For soe nice estoril pics a link to anoher forum with a nice S6 in Estoril Estoril Blue 2013 S6 Paint Correction, 22PLE, Expel after baby Mountain Lion attack

My current car is a Misano Red A1, so I also love that colour, but fancied a change this time and went for the blue.

My understanding was that cars were made in batches according to paint colour. So when it came to the Mk6 Golf R, those who ordered a white one got theirs quicker than those who ordered a blue one, since Rising Blue is unique to the Golf R.

So if white/red are shared with the A3 and other Audi's, those S3's might arrive sooner perhaps.

One of the dealers I am in touch with over my future S3 order has told me their official launch date for the S3 SB is 21st Sept. I am booked for a days test drive in their demo S3 SB (which they have just received) in early October. I dont know if this is a national thing or if its just this particular dealer thats going for it's own launch date - Has anyone else heard of this official launch date for the SB?

After seeing the S3 at its official launch at Geneva in March and months of patient waiting I am looking forward to seeing a UK car and driving it!

I am fairly sure my order will soon go in with a view to March 2014 delivery. :icon_thumright:

Hey,

I am new to this forum but have signed up as there seems to be quite an active thread on the new S3. I am really considering ordering one of these. At the moment I have a VW Scirocco TDI that I have had for just over 3 years and fancy a change. I really love Audi and would love to get one and I think the new S3 looks superb, however not seen one in the flesh. I have been to a dealer a few months back. I looked round the A3 and quite like the interior and the simplicity feel it had to it.

Now I specced up an S3 and was wandering what sort of advice you could offer. Is there anything I am missing or no point in getting.

So here it goes,

Misano Red Sportback S3 S tronic
18" 10 Spoke Matt Alloy Wheels
Alcantara Black Leather
Comfort Pack with Parking System Plus + Park Assist (I am rubbish at parking)
Tech Pack + Mobile Phone Prep
Privacy Glass
Electrically Adjustable Folding Mirrors
Rear Badge deletion
Tyre Pressure Monitor
Non Smoking Pack
Interior Light Pack
Electric Lumbar Support + Electric adjustable seats
Hill Hold Assist
Reversing Camera
Advance Key
B+O Sound System

Just touching 40K for a hatchback :-O! Drive the deal seems to get it round to 36K but still. But a small part of me doesn't seem to care to much.

Nice to have another one on board! Great spec, very very similar to mine! I also ordered through drive the deal so if you want any advice let me know! The only thing I'd add to that is the full LED headlights. When bought in conjunction with the comfort pack they come down from 700 or so quid to around 400 (from memory). They're a £2000 option on anything below s line spec too. These are the lights that audi use on all their promotional videos for the s3, where the drl's are replaced by the indicator. Must have feature imo.

A lot there that you could remove, but it's up to you.
I haven't bothered with the tech pack, never need or use Nav.
Reversing sensors with the comfort pack are enough, you could perhaps rely on those and drop the camera, park assist.
Electric seats, Interior Light Pack and Advance key are nice toys, but not necessary, got all in my S5 and won't miss not having them in the S3.
Do you need hill hold assist in an s tronic?
Unsure why you would delete the badges, but that's a no cost option so up to you.

In my opinion a Sportback should have roof rails as it adds to the purposeful look, so I would be adding that if I was you.

The thing about loading up with options is that you won't generally get anything back for them when it comes to resale.

Thanks for the advice. Don't really understand what the difference is between the LED lights and the Xenon lights (which I think are standard)? Also in magnetic ride a good idea? I know these sporty cars seem to have very firm rides.

With drive the deal will they do part exchange? And how long a lead time are they quoting. I know guys are waiting up to 6 months on here now, to be honest I am not that patient.

Cheers Craig. I see where your coming from on the small tech options but to be honest I am a tech geek at heart. Hill hold I have on my manual Scirocco and like it a lot. Never driven an S tronic so would not know. Also I do use a sat nav in my Scirocco and hate having to get it out plug into the lighter. Sticking it on the windscreen and it falling off every 15minutes or so. I understand about re sale value you don't get much back on options but to be honest its hardly an investment buying a new car in the first place. A few option I have picked come from my dad who bought a Q5 a couple of years ago.

Options are so personal and that's the beauty of buying new - but it is important to research them well.

I reckon having such a special car is about enjoying it to the max, so why not have all the options that you personally like. If you drop options because you are concerned you wont get their value back later you could be missing out. There are quite a few posts on here where people have stated they wish they had had this or that option (eg Audi connect). To me if you are spending £40k why then skimp on a a few extra grand of options - if they are what you like and will further enhance your experience.

Two great old sayings come to mind - "if a job is worth doing its worth doing well" and "why spoil the ship for a half penny's worth of tar"!

My advice is load up - I know I will

I know exactly what you mean. Because I have had the same problem with my Scirocco :)

Reason I want to delete the badge at the back. Is I know what car I have don't need to advertise to the world ;)

Each to their own indeed.
However, the car doesn't need many options as for me it's about the look and the drive, and if you don't overload it, it's far closer to £30k than it is to your estimated £40k, but the driving experience will be just the same for a few extra grand less.

As for your old sayings, your second one probably is a reason for not adding options.

£30K does sound better but still love my toys :)

I won't lie, i'm also in confusion between standard bi-xenons and the extra LED's in terms of look! @bleedsoff

Red car = Xenon
Silver car = Full LED

The styling is different as you can see, but this also shows how the indicators look when on. The second image of the silver car shows the daytime running lights. You can see how the indictor lights replace the DRL's when on.

Hi Bleedsoff, Pano sunroof with tinted glass and Milano red is a great combination on a three door. But I am biased on the pano and the Misano red though. Pano looks really good retracted as well, Will be a great looking car either way.

Don't forget the super sport seats, no need for hill hold with DSG it just does it.

LED lights also help with the missing fog lights on the S3, as the led lights are according to the brochure " All-weather light makes conventional front fog lights superfluous". This was another way I found to convince myself they were a justified upgrade, it wasnt all about the led indicator ans different style .

Oh i see! thanks very much to the both of you for pictures and vid!
Seems worth it ;) i'll just tell myself, that they help see better at night..

Am I the only one ordering silver? Lol

the first thing on my spec list was the B&O sounds. Having been with my mate taking an extended test in a 184 derv with std stereo it was a no brainer. Why give DAB and mp3 to follow it up with speakers from the dark ages :(

the premium sat nav is pretty good but not worth having to spend an extra 1300 quid to get it.

I thought this was the case too, but I'm struggling to find it in the brochure now. I cant think where else I would have seen it though! From what I can see there's no discount on LED's if you've the Comfort Pack, but there is on the Comfort Pack if you've LEDs... except that doesn't apply to S-line or S3 spec cars, for some reason. It could just be the brochure is wrong, but the configurator also seems to agree with it, so who knows!

It definitely is the case as I have my order as proof. I did it through drive the deal but all the online broker sites I checked also showed the same discount being applied.

Just checked and still listed as discounted on DTD, so I'm just going to assume the August brochure (latest version available online) is wrong... it certainly wouldn't be the first time!!
