Although not an Audi I thought this may be interesting for those of you with the 3.2 engines.

Apologies if this isn't the correct section for this.

Last week I took my Mk4 R32 down to R-Tech in Hickley to have it custom mapped.

For those of you who haven't heard of R-Tech, here is there website: -

ECU Remapping, Performance Engine Tuning, R-tech

And some feedback from the uk-mkivs.net forum: -

http://uk-mkivs.net/...s/t/270216.aspx

This is the 3rd car I've had remapped by Niki@R-Tech, the first being a Fabia vRS with a hybrid turbo and the second being a Bora 4motion with a 1.8T AMK conversion. It was my previous experiences that brought me back for a 3rd time with the R32.

I arrived at R-Tech around 9am and shortly after the car park started filling up. Another customer happened to be a fellow R32 owner from R32OC.com who managed to grab a last minute appointment.

While Niki set to work mapping Rob's R32, Ben set to work swapping out my stock air box for an R-Tech induction kit and heat shield.

By the time the filter was fitted, Niki had finished mapping the other R32 and it was time to go for a test drive to see the difference it had made.

As Niki was driving us around in the other R32 it felt so strong and pulled right through the rev range, I couldn't wait for my turn.

On the ramp it goes for a pre inspection.

After it passed the inspection it was play time!

After seeing the results I couldn't wait for a test drive so off we went.

As Niki pulled out of R-Tech he planted it in 2nd. Holy s**t! It's the first time I've ever been pinned to the seat in an R32, it just kept pulling and pulling up to the limiter.

As part of the map the limiter was raised to 7,200rpm so it can now hit 60mph in 2nd gear and when you change in to 3rd it drops you right back in to the power band.

This is how they should have left the factory.

Niki also applied a partial linear throttle map in order to calm the throttle down because anybody who has driven a stock one will know how sensitive (crap) the throttle feel is. The difference in the throttle feel is instantly noticeable when maneuvering around car parks and it is now far more predictable and controllable.

Something else to point out is the change in exhaust note. You can instantly tell once the remap has been applied because the exhaust sounds so much sportier and it mostly kills that raspy/rattle noise that the decat creates.

Finally, Niki also raised my hot idle speed ever so slightly to stop the glove box and ash tray vibrating and rattling as they did before.

This is the 3rd car I've brought down from Aberdeen to R-Tech and it's the 3rd time I've come home absolutely delighted with the R-Tech service. The whole team can't do enough to help you out both before, during and after the remap.

They don't stick you in a waiting room whilst working on your car and because of that you get to join in with the endless banter (mostly at Ben's expense lol) not only with the R-Tech team but with the other customers as well. All this helps make for a great day out.

This is most definitely the best modification I've made to this car and for £250 it's absolutely fantastic value for money.

If/when I change cars in future I won't think twice about making the journey down South for a 4th time.

Hi, do you happen to know whether it'd be £250 for the A3?

Cheers kai

Quite good gains from a NA engine, especially the torque. Must be a differnent car to drive :)

Yeah niki is a legend! Good results,

Sean

He certainly is :)

I couldn't say dude, give R-Tech a call and they'll sort you out I'm sure :)

Yeah I couldn't believe the torque gains. It's a much better drive now, so much easier to overtake and cover ground in.

Why don't you just call them up and ask?

That's the easy option :p

That was a really good write up, glad you happy with results. :) x

Great review Yohan, because of reading this great write up, I booked a stage 1 remap on my S3. Went on Saturday and can back up totally everything what was said. Great bunch of guys and fantastic service. Even got a freebie part off Niki because he must of been in a good mood. Happy with my results and still smiling. Worth the 260 mile round trip
Niki truly is a legend!!
