2013 Audi S3

I currently own 2011 S3 sportback BE, which is on pcp 3 year deal due back 1st march 2014.

Due to Audi lead times never being the best, I went to Bristol Audi on 3rd August 2013 and placed order for :-

S3 Sportback
Glacier White,advanced key,black roof rails,comfort pack,privacy glass,parking system plus,rear camera,black styling pack,hill hold assist,folding door mirrors,non smoking pack,SD card sat nav,Audi sound system and cruise control.

2 weeks ago I recieved via email a scheduled build date of week 4 which hopefully will give me delivery of 1st March 2014.

Regards

Was that date what they quoted you at the point of order? Did you expect it to be that long?

That was the date I requested.

To be honest I thought I was a bit early enquiring about a new car which I don't want until 1st March 2014.

My current car took nearly 6 months to arrive.

Just over 1 month gone since I ordered only 6 to go!!!!

Interestingly, my local dealer told me that if I placed my order for an S3 SB before the end of August I would be taking delivery by December. I must admit, I did take that with a pinch of salt. I'm utterly impatient and waiting a few weeks is bad enough, let alone six months. I got my RS within 6 weeks of walking into the showroom - just told them what I wanted (colour, spec) they looked through the inventory coming into the UK dealer network for that month and less a couple of options, which frankly I wasn't bothered about, found the car I wanted. It was diverted to my dealer from the dealer in Scotland and I was taking delivery of my new car within 6 weeks of handing over the deposit. I have pulled the same trick for the S3 I had and got that within just 4 weeks and to exactly the spec I wanted! Funny thing about it is, if everybody did that, it wouldn't work. I guess as it's a new model and people are trading up, it may be more difficult to employ this tactic right now, but once the initial rush has died down, give it a try and if the dealer won't play ball, find one who will! The only thing to bear in mind is if you want a lot of options or a certain colour, it might prove more difficult to find something along those lines. Mind you, most cars the dealers order for their stock tend to be loaded. I for example know that one dealer has an S3 SB demo coming in for December and if someone liked the spec, could easily get that car off them. Don't ask me where though as I've already highlighted my interest in it, well, I want to see it first as it's not in my first choice of colour.

I have just ordered my new S3 (3dr, manual, black styling package, lighting package, comfort package, electric mirrors, SD nav, privacy glass, B&O sound system) and have been told that it will be a week 50 build.

Hopefully it will be a nice way for me to start the new year :)

I don't think you'll have a problem thedooker, and congrats on pulling the trigger! Getting a 3 door seems to be fine, and I think some people have them already on this forum so worth having a chat with them to get you excited.

Still no clarity from anyone else on the availability issues that seem to be affecting the S3 Sportback however. Hopefully those with a June/July order and 2013 build week can confirm if they're still expecting the cars on time, or if they have also mysteriously ended up with builds right at the end of the year.

If, as my dealer told me, the problem is with lack of supply then I would expect an official notice from Audi UK in the not too distant future as people will be expecting cars to start arriving in the next few weeks. I know I was!

Quick update from my side is that my dealer contact is out today, back tomorrow, so I should find out then hopefully!

I'll call her in the afternoon if I've not heard by then :)

Thanks, I've never had a new car so the wait will kill me!! ha ha

I need no help to get excited. I do need help in changing my mind about the spec. So far I have added to the spec 3 times and changed the colour from Black, to Blue, to White and now it's going to be silver!!

Oh and the dealer said that when it arrives I can go in to detail it before I pick it up :)

Excuse ignorance - but what do you mean by 'detail it'?

Keyser - a dteailed clean. Basically i will use a sealant on the wheels and a wax on the bodywork. A new car shouldn't need much work but if I do these things myself it gives me a chance to check the car over very closely before delivery.

I've just been to Huntingdon Audi and they have 2 3dr S3's in stock. Phantom black and Estroril blue. Pretty dull day, so I hope the pictures help you better understand the way these colours look, most of the pictures you see are of the cars in a showroom or on a sunny day!

thanks for the pics Paul, not sure about the wheels on the Estoril Blue though, really think hyper silver would suit that colour so much better IMO, I think the chrome and silver and headlights compliment that colour so well but those alloys look a little out of sync visually with the rest of the car.

They are the wheels I have on my estoril and believe me pics do them no justice, they are so much nicer in real life

fair comment Dylock, perhaps i should reserve judgement until i have seen them in the flesh.

That is odd, i phoned my dealer today. i haven't actually ordered but he said if i placed an order today or like now. Audi said delivery will be December, he says 1st week Jan just to be safe. i'm in south africa by the way.
I just haven't ordered as im not sure if i want this or M135i :D

Hi Harris27,

I'm also from south africa and also looking at the s3. Has your dealer given you any pricing on the options for the car because I've only received a base price for the 3door and 5door?

Great pictures and reinforce my liking of estoril blue.

It is a nice 'deep' shade of blue on a dull day ... and I like that - much more so than a light shade.

But on a sunny day, it comes to life and you get a real sparkle and brighter blue.

Another great Audi colour.

So had it with black and will be glad to see it go after 3 years, it just gets tiring after a while.

Great when clean, but that lasts next to no time !

I have high hopes for estoril blue

While Estoril looks beautiful, is it not just as a pain to keep clean? It's pretty dark.

Nope, that's all i have also.. Did they send you that email with all the info on it? stating standard options etc.

Dealer was unable to alter their order to a S Tronic (they had placed a manual order) so I'm now a factory order, awaiting build date......

I'll have to suffer on with the S5 until early in the New Year I expect.......

Salesman is going to push for an estimated build date for me, so will let you know when I do.

Misano.
The demo at my dealer is a Misano SB S3.
I liked what I saw, so went for that spec.

Yeah i got the exact same thing. It's been over 2 months since i received that email but no update after that.

Here's another review: Audi S3 2013 model review | evo

Will wait til next year before looking for an upgrade and the S3 SB is at the top of my list, time will tell if I go for it or settle for a Golf R/GTI (pending pricing info down under).

Currently got the Mk6 Golf Comfortline with an APR Stage 1 twincharged 1.4L. Currently good for 203BHP / 319nm torque / 0-62mph in 6.6 seconds / 41-43mpg.

You're not mate, I'm no fan of it either and I have seen one with my own eyes - not a picture of one or a video :whistle2: each to their own of course. I've got a Cayman S on order and I imagine not many would like the colour of that (racing yellow)

Not a fan either...of Estoril Blue (or Racing Yellow), but then my order is for a Monsoon Grey S3 3dr - probably not to most people's liking. Would be dull if we all picked the same colour though...

So have you joined a Porker Forum? Presumably you no longer have any or little interest in the S3 as you have ordered a Porsche?

Yeah i got the exact same thing. It's been over 2 months since i received that email but no update after that.

Just got off the phone with a dealer, he said he doesn't have a price list but if we go in he has it on his order system all the pricing on options. Was Hatfield, they have 2 more allocations this month started with 4! delivery December. then 5 allocations next month!

Good luck with Hatfield, see they are playing the old I don't have a price list but come in and have a chat line

You ordered something else than an s3 but you're still lurking on the s3 forum, goes to show how confident you are with your purchase, congrats . Don't worry you're no loss to the s3 community and to be fair, you're not much gain to the Porsche community either.

Hopefully on Monday i'll have ordered a S3 SB.

Swindon Audi have just received a S3 SB in, so once it's been prepped it should be on their website. I think its Daytona grey and its got the S-Line alloys.

Another great vid too !

Audi get a lot of things right and paint colours and light designs are two areas they excell at IMO.

Really love estoril - but take other colours such as Daytona grey, misano red, etc they are superb colours and really different.

Audi lights are also some of the best on the market.
