Swapping Allroad for S4 Avant

Just wondering what people think about this and any advice welcome. I LOVE A4 Avants, I've had 4 now (!). My last car was becomming very old and a lot of things starting to go wrong so I had to sell it and ended up getting an A4 Allroad almost as a bit of an impulse buy.

It's a lovely car, superb on the motorway and long journeys but i'm finding the combination of the 3.0 TDi, increased ride height and S-Tronic box makes it very hesitant in town and pretty uninspiring round bends! It just isn't a huge amount of fun even though it's a very fast car.

Am I mad to consider an S4 Avant?! Has anyone been in the same situation? Any S4 Avant owners out there who love their cars?

ive just bought an a4 avant,so I hope im gonna love it
mates wife has had one for 3 years now and just cant fault it.
I went for one based on that and the fact I couldn't find an A6 like his one anywhere near here.

You're not mad at all. I've not driven an Allroad - think they look odd personaly

However for the past year I've owned an S4 Avant that I had remapped and supercharger pulley upgraded soon after ownership. It still makes me smile almost every drive and yet manages to be such a refined cruiser when a more relaxed transport is desired.

I returned to this from a spate of BM's with big dual turbo diesels. The wet and slippy weather drawbacks aside, the BM's were indeed rapid yet my Avant is faster still and so much more planted in the process. Couple that with a free revving engine that is more engaging and I've not looked back (well occasionally perhaps when I have to fill the beast at the pumps).

I like to change cars every 12 months or so yet I scratch my head presently as the Avant ticks so many boxes I'm stumped what I could replace it with that would allow such comfort, ability to go camping with a huge roof box and bike rack on hitch whilst still being able to surpirse the odd sports car when road conditions permit and as I said at the outset - make me smile every single drive.

Thanks for this. My Allroad luckily is the full black body colour (Metallic paint) so it actually looks pretty nice! But yesterday I just drove an S4 Avant with an S-Tronic box and it blew me away. Now starts the hard process of finding an S4 Avant that isn't too much cash and selling the Allroad!!

Great choice -you wont regret.
Just consider options wisely on your shopping list as like any A4 they vary greatly and std accesory list if not optioned can seem a little sparse.

Though you already no doubt have great awareness of this given previous ownerhsip.

They are amazing cars the S4, test drove one not to long ago, and am sorely tempted. Anyone know what sort of Bhp you can expect after supercharger pulley upgrade and a remap
