Prawn and BigAls A3 Track Car

Ive been following this but rarely posted. So good luck and im sure your get what you want. Uve built from the ground up so everything should be more then strong enough

All of the frenzy and no actual prices..

Performance I think is a given 350bhp+
Reliablity TBC but turbo in std guise is pretty solid unit
Price - uknown

The whole "kit" needs to be defined, costed and priced.....
There will be DIYers who will take it on, and others who will want others to fit it

Charge pipework will have to change, subject to platform it goes on
Turbo intake pipework will have to change
Downpipe will have to change (quattro will be tricky and until done, remains a ? )
Some mods to the shell (chassis dependant) required to clear compressor cover
turbo/manifold will need to be sourced
Oil feed and drain will need to be sourced
Water lines will need to be sourced

Larger injectors
fuel pump likely

I am interested to see how this all tots up and where that pitches it vs full frame garretts for example

like bill said , as are many, im interested still, is there even a ball park figure about or an idea on times

im guessing this is a 390hp strong all day build here, if so i may be interested in being the 4x4 test subject price dependant once we can see the TT setup works as expected

What i want to know it how much is Niki going to ring its neck to get the pub figures and then how much are you going to drive away with?

He'll ring it to the limit knowing Niki. We all want to know what that limit is even if it is tamed down for daily use. You all wanted to know what a K04 could do when I took mine there ;)

Its not really all that unknown is it. The tfsi crowd might be laughing at our excitement here.
They can make sort of 370-380hp flat out. But then thats bigger displacement, different head (flow quite well too, big ports).
But then this is 100% custom map on prawns, not a generic 'stage2+' like the tfsi folks tend to get.

I think we can expect exactly what the tfsi crowd expect out of theres.

Unless theres been some secret tinkering with this turbo of prawns and its got different spec wheels in it...

What compression to the TFSI's run? Prawns running the higher comp AGU pistons right?

I was talking to the owner of IE about this recently and he did mention the TFSI head was better flowing compared to the 20v. I had always been under the impression it was the other way around!

I guess we'll find out soon enough...

the 'generic' on tfsi from the major boys are pretty developed...
my revo2 on my new leon tfsi for example runs pretty sweet, 347bhp/300lbft ~(badger torques :p )

exact opposite from what I've seen. The maps may well be properly developed, but I've never seen a stage 2+ car that isn't 'broke' when a dyno day comes around

Well I have been at R-Tech during my lunch and for 2 hours this evening, been a good day. I met Jojo, Jardo and Nick. All sounds guys and great seeing the cars in person. I won't say anything more as I know all will said later after their journey back home.

forget the stage+ nonsense if I were you.. dreamt up by resellers..

What you see cars tuned too high = broken and unreliable as a consequence.. same as anything turned up to 11

mines stage 2.. sensible boost 21psi does what it does

Maybe they get stage fright? lol

Too busy to post... Currently converting an S3 into the new track car ;)

lol - if you are on fb its old news already.........

I've just noticed by looking through old comments...hmmm do you think niki had time for a banzai run or thats safe power?

The peak figures you have seen on Facebook are as much as the current hardware setup can flow. Not that this is a bad thing, because the figures are ****** great.

Niki added an extra .2 bar of boost and AFR and EGT remained unchanged, along with power and torque. There is a restriction somewhere, which is limiting it at an already very impressive peak figure.

I won't steal Prawns thunder, but anybody who thinks today wasn't a success or that the setup has under achieved is very wrong.

It's ****** fantastic, so character full and punchy. I totally love it. And most importantly the figures achieved today are still considerably more than every K04 hybrid and much more reliable and accessible.

After two hours of constant dyno runs the IC was ambient temp +1* I believe.

Christ, crazy long day!

Will write up tomorrow, but the long and the short of it:

As arrived: 295bhp on actuator, 342 on boost.

As mapped: against the brake, really loading it up, 368-372 repeatably over 10+ runs. Flat out run giving everything it'll give gave 380bhp against the brake, 1.7 bar at 7k RPM, hitting some form of flow restriction somewhere, EGT's still good, temps great, just nothing more to come from it there.

As finished, low-370's against the brake, run in intertia mode as most dyno days would be, 378bhp 352lbft.

Pulls like a train, properly unreal now, without question considerably faster than the old hybrid I'd say.

Sadly, it destroyed a CV joint less than 100 yards from Nikis on the first road test, which took until 7pm to get sorted, so we never really had a chance to properly road test (just like last time!) or make tweaks after road testing.

It's ****** fast though, really, REALLY good.

Well that is great figures IMHO, and just to confirm a totally stock TFSI blower?, any ideas on the flow issues or is this the start of porting and polishing the head and looking at larger inlet fannimolds?

really really pleased for you mate must be epic

ive got about 5 inner CVs if you want you can have them all as spares if needed dude

I just want to add that I had a passenger ride in it in it's remapped form. What a bonkers car! I reckon you'd need 500bhp in an S3 to keep up, that's how quick it felt! :racer:

Big thumbs up to Nick for taking me out in it, and great work from Gower Power Niki, he's a master at what he does!

Good day out despite a few drawbacks!

Lmao, i knoiw your shut down, nothing stops it lol, very impressive figures, out of interest (maybe one for Prawn) but with your car being fully prep'd up if this was a stock road car (ok brembos, coilovers and maybe bushes) would it be a good set up, or would it be to much of a handful due to the way the power comes in?
