im looking at a lovely audi a3 56plate.
i did mycarcheck (iphone app) on the audi
and it says its a 56plate 2.0tdi s line in black

my question is this : what year did the 170bhp models come out ?
i thought you could only get 170bhp standard from the newer models ?(such as 08 onwards but did the first ones come out in 65reg)
ill upload some pics later on to show you the car.

so they must of started at 56 reg.
im pleased with it because i know that 06 plates are the 140bhp and 56 plates are the 170bhp.
so it will easily map to 200bhp

It's the Torque that the clutches don't like, that increases lots

ahh right. how is the 170bhp mate ?
ive drove the 140 and it seemed okay but never drove the 170bhp also what mpg you get ?

The 170 has 258 lb/ft of torque standard it goes, it's not a bang in your back goes if that makes sense.
70 mph on cruise on motorway sees it at 60mpg
I drove a friends standard 140 before we chose to go the audi route, and the difference is really felt.
I also have DSG and the s mode is far more used for getting of the lights ;)

170bhp should be enough, the torque seems awesome. mine is also the s line.
its just front wheel drive aswell, i thought all s line 170bhp are quattro but apparantly not.
ill post some pics up soon mate

Yeah that's about my average tbh Cruise on motorway is better. Not sure if DPF makes any difference tbh

45 on average. Don't know whether the non-DPF version makes that much difference does it??

The DPF does not help fuel economy. I gained + 5 mpg when mine was removed but some of that is down to the map I think

You can have either engine on either of those plates. The 170 was just introduced in 2006 along side the 140. 170 came out on 06 plate. S-Line is just a trim level and available with any engine.

60mpg average is possible but not normally at 70mph. As mentioned, removing the DPF yields a lot of power (pushes capacity of the weak clutch) and maybe some mpg.
