S3 Buying Advice.

Hey,

This is my first post on here go easy on me please. I'm viewing an S3 on Sunday it's 07 plate in black. Just wondered if anybody could give any advice on things to look out for that go wrong just so that I'm prepared. Also any info on when cambelts need to be changed and the oil for the 4wd. Sorry for all the questions just want all the info hopefully by the end of the weekend ill be a fully fledged member with my own S3

Do what I did. Satisfied myself that the car was genuine (I knew the previous owner, but not the first), then got everything done. Full service - inc coils, haldex, cam belt, 4xtyres.

What's done's done.

My advice is pretty much the same, if the car looks sound, get an AA check done and if that's all good knock them down as much as you can on price and then get a full service done with that money, new sparks, new cam follower (£35 ish), rev D dv valve (£50 odd quid) full oil change and boom you're rocking and rolling

Well very soon I'm going to be a member of the club pick up the S3 on Saturday I'm like a kid waiting Xmas. In the deal I got them to change the cambelt and the Haldex oil. Plus the normal service etc. I'm counting the sleeps.

Yeah I keep hearing about these Stg 1 maps. Who does everybody use and what's a rough cost? Just want Saturday to hurry up now.

I got mine through Boydie - Shark, Love it!

It changes the character of the car, more progressive power and torque (not massively though, 10-15%ish). But it's the delivery, creamily smooth right through the rev range.

I'm glad I waited 6 months - I got to know the car and SO appreciated the difference. (Remember though, don't be expecting a Lambo...It'll still be the same car, just 'awakened'.
