Prawn and BigAls A3 Track Car

Mini R-tech prep going on, fitted new BKR7E plugs, Fuel filter, and a new S2K filter this evening:

Almost certainly a placebo, but it feels and sounds smoother I'm sure. Especially when started from cold.

me too man! Properly silly excited, Poor old Beachbuggy will be sat on a beach in greece twiddling his thumbs waiting for my news

Going to be fun :racer:

I'm lookingfor 400 brake just as a good allround number. Nothing to do with bragging rights:busted_cop:

Greedy old Git

Not going to happen. I stick by my original statement, 370 or above would be an epic result.

Looking back 8 years to when we first bought the A3, we thought 150bhp was a lot, and 200 with a remap just seemed incredible.

To think we're touching on the realms of double that these days is just crazy, it's amazing how perception of speed / power changes with time!

I was so proud of this when I was 19:

And still very proud of it now :D

Picked up some 630cc injectors this evening from AndyP, hoping we don't need them, as they're not mine, I'm only borrowing them, but it'll be good to have them on hand just incase.

Do you think whoever you bought it off would even recognise it now? :D

i taught him how to take the "David Bailey" shots on his phone lol!

epic car. Yet to go out in it yet, but I can't wait for the full on power of the TFSI turbo

Many ideas and inspiration for me comes from this car, even the big gay wing will be going onto mine soon!

Cheers J :)

Everyone needs a big gay wing! it's the future!

I may also have recently enlisted the help of a friend with a large automobile to aid in delivering some sheet materials to my house :p

More on that when I find someone willing to lend me a jigsaw!

Car does look a tad meaner than when you bought it lol

I've got a jigsaw and many blades you can use. And a router to chamfer the edges.

In fact, if you make a cardboard template I'll get Richard to make it for you.

Richard is good at making things to be fair. Well you'd expect him to be good at making things as a self employed carpenter of 30 years haha.

Today I fitted the Sytec Motorsport intank fuel pump from Bill.

What a fantastic bit of kit it is too!

it's an intank pump that's 100% OE fitting, using the stock electrical connections, swirlpot, lines, everything. It'll apparently flow enough to run a set of 630cc injectors at 5 bar at 100% duty, so somewhere in the region of 450bhp+, far more than I'll ever need.

it's also very reasonably priced from Badger5 too

So, if you have a FWD car you're in luck. If you've got an S3 or a TQ, then this isn't for you. haha

Pump cover off:

and the pump and pot unit out:

I stripped it down and compard pumps, the bottom of the sytec pump replicates the OE pump perfectly, so it really is an OE fit with absolutely none of the fuel starvation issues that so many after market pumps suffer from.

I popped the new pump into the pot:

and connected it up using the factor connectors:

And back into the fuel tank and we're done. 35 minutes start to finish, one of the easiest mods I've ever done!

On turning the key I can hear it prime, it's no louder than the one it replaces at all, and totally silent with the engine running.

Happy days, another thing sorted :)

Dude that's very well done! What does a setup like this set one back and what's the pros and cons

For you migglesworth:

I do a Sytec in tank pump which drops in and supports 620cc injectors at 100IDC @ 5bar fuel pressure? (3bar fpr + 2bar boost) and costs £75+vat

its what I am using on all ailing in tank 2wd setups which come thru here

OK, so it's R-tech tomorrow!

Everything is checked, all fluids are topped up, I've got 10L of Pre-mixed meth to take along as spare, and 52L of shells finest V-power.

There's a 4 bar FPR waiting for me at R-tech, and a set of 630's in the glovebox just incase, so hopefully we've got fueling covered.

The big question is, what's it going to make?

Thanks dude that's actually very well priced considering that you don't need to go full custom cutting and stuff!

Good luck for tomorrow dude!
