Jay A3 's 1.8T On-Going Build Thread

I started lookin into meth but then I thought I would fit it after the larger fmic goes on..

With meth niki reckons I should be able to run 260bhp nicely

My bbs reps have been looking a little tired over last few months with paint flaking off

I had picked up some rs4 reps few months back. Decided to get them powder coated and I must say I'm impressed with how it has turned out

Yeh, still breathing! K03s ain't that powerful. I'm going to take some more shots of them later when I clean the car. I see that you also have a new set! Looking good

lol na dude just resprayed them hey! still love my SSW no one has them here in SA

Bbs will probably be my track wheels when ever I get a chance to refurb them.

so tell us about it! tell us how is the weather and stuff dont make me go thru 4 weeks of threads to remind you that you have a thread lol

You have waited this long, a few more weeks wont hurt :)

Haven't done much just general day to day maintenance and enjoying the car.

Popped up to see ben and reesy yesterday. Got round to upgrading the rear brakes to 256mm setup. Cracking work lads as always and fun banter.

Mental note: "7mm spacers rather than 6mm would be a better fit" said Ben. It doesn't catch with 6mm so still ok to use.

When I left brake felt a little light and Ben said it would be like that for around 20miles or so.

First impression: it is a little more responsive and sharper but time will tell when these get worn in a bit more

Brake jut?
I completely forgot to take pics. The rear upgrade has been done to death so I didn't think pics would be needed

232mm discs standard
256mm s3

Ben sorted it all out. He sold me the set and even sourced the 6mm spacers! All I did was paint the carriers and calipers. Brake line kit was from awesome gti

Courtesy of Reesy (not a massive difference in size but still a difference non the less)

I do just not in the corner :D

It does feel better and I can actually see the disc behind the alloys now haha

Hmmm, possibly getting there, but need to financially recover from buying the thing first. And to be fair though, it's probably tuned as much as i'll be bothered to ever do! I suspect my monies will now go to funding two cars and a large fuel bill...plus all the other bits that start to fall to pieces on a 14yr old car.

Large fuel bill? The other car is a derv and this one is a standard 1.8t!

It's not standard, and even if it was it's still thirsty compared to my derv. I'm just not used to seeing 25mpg on a conservative run to work lol.

Plus, running two cars has a load of costs ha.

What's the spec of your motor?

It's only had a few tweaks, had a remap, got a fmic and milltek cat back. It goes well enough though, much more fun to drive than the standard 1.8tqs I test drove.
