Slip Rings.

I've got a tiptronic steering wheel at home and hopefully at some point I should be getting a MFSW. I got an idea for them but before any of that I need a new slip ring.

Got one to ETKA and it lists the following:=-

I went on eBay and was only able to find 1J0959654M (VW AUDI STEERING ANGLE SENSOR SLIP RING 1J0959654M | eBay). I assume 4B0951543B would be a better slip ring as I don't really need or care about the steering angle sensor.............Or do I?

Looking at the slip rings on ebay for the tiptronic or MFSW options, they all appear massive, possible to big to fit?

This is my current slipring.


And one from ebay that's for tiptronic or MFSW.

In short, will the larger tiptronic/MFSW slip rings fit where my bogo slip ring is?
Would a angle sensor slip ring be of any current or future benefit to me?
Would this be the better slip ring for me (4B0951543B) and what would the chances be of fitting a heated steering wheel?

steering angle sensor is only for cars with ESP.

I suspect you want the 4B0951543B one if you want to have multifunction controls and heated wheel.

Theres just two sizes, some are big, some arent. Not sure if they're interchangable, but i'd imagine so.

Steering angle sensor not used on any thing else then?
I can't even think what else would want that information really, so I doubt it.

I have a spare (sitting in a box!) 3 spoke S/W with tiptronic paddles but my car at present has a standard wheel.
Regarding the above part numbers, which slip ring would I need in order to use this?
My car is an A4 (B6) cab 3.0 V6 Quattro tiptronic.

Is there anything else I need to get, buy, code etc?
Any help appreciated.

Only just seen this, sorry for the late reply.

Has your car got triptronic paddles at the moment?
If not, I suspect there is more that needs to be done than just bolting it all on.

I would suggest posting this question in the B6 section, they will know more.

Steering angle sensor on later models is also used by the navigation, problem your going to have is they never did MFSW & paddles on our model of car and the B6 stuff is not going to fit.

I know but I think the slip ring is going to be the problem, just not enough pins on the slip ring.

Yeah that is the biggest issue.
BUt I am hoping I can share power cables, canbus and maybe illumination cables.
Just looking at diagrams now to see what I can work out.

The sliprings are common to TT's A3's Golfs and various other cars, so maybe you can cast your net wider?
