A3sportbackMark's countdown begins

Awesome :)

Can't wait for mine now, 7 day insurance is sorted (I'm covered from the 1st on my own insurance, but don't have the new certificate yet so it just saves all the bother about having to take it in etc), so I don't think there's anything else I have to do - just turn up and drive away!

Anyone following this thread will realise that i pick up my car this Sunday, can't believe it's my time!After all the waiting and thinking of all the pre-planned questions to ask and the things to check, the unveiling of the car will probably leave me with just a big grin and wanting to drive.
And after collection, i imagine over the next week i will be familiarising myself with all the gadgets, and recalling the posts on this forum that affect my car.
Hold assist, can I really get the hang of it? That damn clock! Do my adaptive xenons work correctly, does the sat nav live up to my expectations, do my lights really come on at dusk? The snagging list, the LED interior light package and ohh no, not the AMI cable again!
Fear not, I know where to get the very best opinions and answers. Just going to check my checklist again!




Does this sound familiar to anyone's out there waiting for their Audi?

I could have written that!

Think I am in the denial phase at the moment. During the normal what are you up to this weekend conversations at work, I stuck to wife doing a charity marathon walk and son playing football and cricket but did not mention the car except when a couple of people in the know mentioned it.

Am I just being modest or aiming for the biggest possible impact on Monday morning.

make note: set alarm clock early on Monday to make sure I get prime parking spot in the work car park.

I know what you mean Dave. 5 months ago, I mentioned to 2 people at work that i was going to test drive some cars with a view to buying. During this period, somehow, about a dozen people are continually asking me "have you got your car?" Or "i thought you had a new car" or " hasnt it come yet?" which only adds to the pain to this long wait. I just reply with "its comming in September", but secretly wanting to talk about as enthusiastically as I do to you guys. The questions people ask when waiting for something, I know how Andy Murray must feel, prior to winning Wimbledon! Haha..NOT!

Nooooooo, I'm only no 8 in the race for a 63 plate, 10.15am. Dealer said not to arrive early....he is probably preparing it now.
im only 5 mins from dealership.
What excitement, my phone is sending me sooooo many alerts from Audi sport . Net!

We are all excited for you Mark. The wait is nearly over. Take a nice deep breath and you be fine, lol. Just think of us all as your extended family. :) x

He be getting the royal treatment about now. Keys, freebies, he be sitting in the car with the 8v grin and ready to roll. :) x
 
Well, well, well, I think it's all been said before, but here goes.

Got to the dealer, and car was under wraps with a sign next to it with my name on it, you should have seen my grin.
dealer ripped of the cover and showing me around the car, I was in heaven.
i got more freebies than was expected, champagne, 2 key rings and life shine kit. Got AMI cables, but the blue collar, wanted the red, but that can be sorted.
met up with daveotto, we both had grins on our face.

No time to read manual, but hold hill assist works a treat, got the hang of sat nav after meet with Dave, made me laugh whe the little sat nav lady said "prepare to turn left" as the volume of the SD card tune went to low volume. First time I heard it, I thought, don't recognise this tune!

Very happy, will post more pics later today

Glad your happy and have the grin Mark. You deserve it, it has been a very long countdown for you. Now you get to enjoy the car. Have fun and look forward to the pics later. :) x
