Mate in work recently bought a S reg 2.5TDI B5 quattro on 104k. I noticed the 8P thread about mileage, plus thinking my mates S reg was really low miles, I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else is on.

153k 1.9TDI AFN

Almost 167,000 miles now on my 1.8T, original clutch, turbo etc. Been remapped for almost all of the 90,000 miles I've done in it and driven it on trackdays.

Not bad going I would say

At the end of the month, I will be picking up a 1999 A4 Avant Quattro 1.8T with 135k miles. Runs strong.

242k on my fast a6 v6 tdi, granted it's had a few rebuilds in it's time and now it's got a new heart but nevertheless, it drives still like a new car !

249k on my TDI AFN Avant and i'm still getting between 60-65mpg on a run.

I'm impressed that the engines with over 200k+ are still going well.

I had an old Passat with the AFN 110 TDi engine in it I sold it with 255k on it to a boy that ran it for 2 years as an airport taxi.
I was talking to him earlier in the year he says it was on 500k and still hadn't had an engine rebuild.
He say's its been regularly serviced and only driven by him. he says it had a turbo around 350k but apart from that its been a good old bus.
its now to old to be used as a taxi but is still in regular use. and hell not sell it as I tried to buy it back

Amazing.
I guess it is true about the AFN engine then.

the taxi boys that I know swear by them. my mates brother says he had one knocking on 600k!!
I remember when VW started putting the PD engines into the passats the taxi boys I know started buying Skoda Octavias as they were still using the AFN engine.

My old 80 1.9tdi (90bhp) was on 240+k when it went to the big scrappy in the sky.

I remember my old Vectra.. it was the gm 2.0 diesel engine it had 180k and ran like a bag of bolts.
I had an old mondeo with 260k at the time that had been sitting for 6 months and it started easier than the vectra that was in daily use!! I sold the vectra on eBay and bought a Passat best move I ever done.. I dropped about 6 years age wise but it was a better car

The Vectra was a lovely looking car in its defense and had all the toys but it spent more time in bits than it did on the road.. Ill never listen to the wife again when she says " I like that I want it " about a car..

Just like the audi a3 thread, if i owned one of these cars my milage would reflect my mood, on a good day id leave it be , on a bad day id re wind a few hundred k!!

150k on AKN TDI quattro.

Pulls like a Amtrak locomotive and the gear change is as tight as the day it left the factory.

64000 on my 1995 Audi A4 1.6 the only problem is that my rev counter and and clock have packed up in the cluster in the last day or two so now I have to buy a secondhand set of clocks and won't get a set with similar mileage :(

If your keeping it and it really bugs you get it vag tachoed to adjust it. If you ever plan to sell it do the same but make sure it's well documented!

2.5 V6 TDi on a 1999 with 137k. Just gave it a nice big service though :)

Both are 2000 plate 2.5 TDI Quattros.

The Avant's on 185k, the saloon 140k.

The Avant had a zero hour engine and new turbo fitted at 139k, the saloon still on original.

I drove the saloon to Kent a couple of months back and got 49.9 MPG with three people and luggage over 600 odd miles.

Both still drive like a dream!

It would bug me but I guess it's not worth changing as I guess a 19 year old A4 must be only worth £350 whatever the mileage :(
But it does drive well.

192k on 2000 1.8 avant - original clutch, due a belt...

234k on my TDI AFN Avant.
Does 80 motorway miles per day and still returning 51-54 mpg.
Owned it for almost 8 years and still find myself thinking that it feels like a special place to be as I get in each morning.
