Hi Everyone,

Ordered my new A3 S Line 1.4 TFSI COD in Black last week.

Few optional extras: Alacantra seats, Interior Light Pack, Black Styling Pack, 10 Spoke Titanium Alloys, Rear Sensors, Privacy Glass.

I currently own a A1 1.6 TDI.

The New A3 1.4 COD is 40Bhp more than the diesel and with the same amount of torque. I am just abit worried that it wont feel much quicker than the one I have at the minute! I test drove the A3 and seemed to be quite quick but didnt really want to rake it with the sales guy in the car!!

What's your views on this? I couldnt really afford the 1.8 with it being more insurance, petrol etc.

also I took a gamble on the alloys with them being a titanium look I wanted them as I thought they would look good with the black car! I have seen a few pictures of people who also took a gamble and they look quite nice!

Anyone else took a gamble on them and it paid off??

Cheers Everyone.

Jonny

Just my opinion, but will look the nuts ! :ninja: Blacked out similar to black edition but I prefer the titanium wheels.

This was exactly my choice for a while, look wise, but After 2 black cars I wanted a change and has wanted a red Audi for years, so went with that.
would love to see pics in future, but think your choice is not that common, as black styling pack is new to uk, and only squashmanontour has these alloys (I think) on here with glacier white ?
i was torn for long time to go same as you, but thought the panoramic roof (my favourite option) would stand out on Misano red more, and chrome looks good with red and lighter wheels. (Titanium wheels + black styling pack + tinted glass + metallic paint on Misano red was too dear)

Am sure you will be happy with C.O.D. Have driven similar powered engines / weight and is quick enough for most, but viable running cost.

saw my first S line black on the road a couple of days ago and looked amazing.

Nice spec Jonny.

I would of choosen the black optic pack, privacy glass and titanium alloys for a factory order.

I will miss my little back edition A1, and i don't think a BE A3 will be out until next summer.

Good choice Jonny, I too finally ordered my A3 S Line Sportback in Brilliant Black at the weekend after a lot of deliberation, and not just on the colour! Kinda wished Audi had been a bit more adventurous with the styling of the 8V (even the Volvo V40 R Design beats it for looks) just feel it was an opportunity missed....having said that it makes up for it with the wide engine choice, great interiors, and above all cost, when you spec up competing brands its a no brainer...the most lavish option I picked was the B&O can't wait :)

Cheers Fragup! I must admit audi's in red look the bomb and if your getting the roof that will look great. I think your right about the engine, cannot go wrong with the running costs.

Thanks TDI-Line - I think it probably will, couldnt wait that long haha. I'm just glad you can make the same spec throught optional extra's. I will miss my little A1 like but onwards and upwards!

Nice one Paul! I agree with what your saying there! I do also like the simplicity of it though at times. It's growing on me! your lucky to be getting the B&O! I just couldnt afford it. I did however get the audi Bose sound system which I tried in the dealership and loved it!

Still to see a black A3 on the roads yet! looking forward to seing how it looks with my spec! I will get some photos uploaded when it arrives!

Cheers

You wont be disappointed with the COD....surprisingly quick, good torque, quiet....though not that economical (though my right foot is usually anchored down - within the legal parameters, you understand)

In COD we trust!

Cheers for that Moonlight!

I totally understand about the legal parameters, of course driving above legal limits is irresponsible

Looking forward to having my trust in COD!

100 mph on rural roads and 200 on motorways as far as I am aware! :)

what can you say..... Audi know how to make a good car! lol

Very few A3 S Line 8V Sportbacks around here too, have to get my weekly fix at the local dealership...I think the sales guys think I'm on the payroll as I'm in there so often, it doesn't help them putting all the latest RSs around the Sportback...looks a little intimidated by them lol Can't wait for the last week of October, I am sure that delivery date will get bumped the closer I get to it :(

I'm exactly the same Paul! I'm in the audi garage more times then my own home! not long for you to wait now really! I have to wait end of November / Decemeber! :3sadwalk:

Difficult not to wish the time away isn't it?...mine dragged but then came and went in a blink of an eye!

On the day of collection: agreed to pick her up at lunch time...turned up to find my contact (and the only one that could do the hand-over - oddly) had gone for lunch...had to wait a further 1 hour whilst I assumed the car under the black cover was mine...I looked like a father to be circling the dealership for those long long 60 minutes..which probably has taken a few hours away from my life expectancy!

Hi moonlight, Despite your ' drive it like you stole it ' driving style
(all within legal limits goes with out saying :busted_cop: :undwech:)
what sort MPG's do get on short / long runs. As have a 3 month wait to to join the C.O.D. Squad and find out for myself.

Thanks

sure is moonlight! Cannot stop thinking about it!

Time will fly over no doubt! That's a bit of a kick in the balls! I don't think I could have waited haha.

Good question Fragup! I was thinking the same thing!

drive it like you stole it ha...I like it.

This is my driving life:

Daily commute is 16 mile round trip...in fairly heavy traffic...not many opportunities to let fly..other than slip road to dual carriageway for 30 seconds...pfft
5 mile round trip to the gym on an empty highway (twice a week..used to be more but newly born(ish) daughter needs my attention now and then!) - but is quite a swift journey with lead clog.

This amounts to 37.2 mpg (as showing this am) - overall (but generally speaking this is all I do)

The best I have had on a long run is 45mpg..taking it steady(ish)....but this again was a mixture of urban and rural...

It seems to have settled at 37......was showing 36 when the schools were open...out of term time my journey time into work has halved but hardly gained anything economy wise.

It was a difficult drive home with that cover getting in the way I can tell you!.. I guess I should remove it now

Iirc it 500 posts till you get second gear, then 1000 to get third. :) x

That MPG is probably what I am expecting! It's still pretty good I think.

It's acceptable for the performance I would say....though, as you would imagine, nothing like the official figures....

Reminds me I need to fill up .....

What was your previous car Moonlight? I know you've described it as surprisingly quick, but I'd like to know what you're comparing it to - I'm coming from a 2008 1.9TDI Seat Ibiza that had 100bhp!

Scirocco 2.0TDi (138bhp) - car held the tarmac a little better and was quite pointy...but the diesel unit wasn't as brisk as this 1.4T..the Audi is also a better car overall (IMO)

I was forced into the 1.4T as I wanted the s-line or not at all - budget wouldn't stretch to the 2.0tdi (no disrespect to non s-liners, I wanted something that still had a sporty edge coming from the Roc which looks quite muscular and sporty)...but found it not to be the compromise I was expecting...one of the few purchases that I would re-purchase if I had my time again.

Coming from an Ibiza it will feel faster than a speeding bullet.....well ....you'll notice the difference that's for sure....
