Very happy with them, great quality. Postage was very fast and price was very good!

you could get pulled and fined for them

No suppliers postcode and no BS mark means they are illegal mate. Those is show plates!!

get nicked 3 times with them on and DVLA have got the right to take the plate off you aswell

Well yeah. But correct font and not misrepresentated so likely to be ok imho.
Recently I have seen some hardly recognisable fonts on plates and thought how they got away with that ?

oh no doubt it will be ok
just hope he done get the nice police man i got on the M1
what a **** he was

Well when I ordered it had options of "road legal" and "show plates"
I obv picked road legal, and I picked the size of like 440mm x 112m or whatever it is.

I noticed no bsu marking or postcode, but on my invoice I got from my order it did say road legal.
As far as im aware its an actual purpose made plate and hasn't been sanded down.

it seems all correctly spaced and it is reflective so I gathered it was fine.

^^ and yes, I picked the GB font and didn't decide to space it differently.
Feel pretty ****** off now tbh, It was my idea to get shorter plates as I didn't like the HUGE overhang haha.
But if I do get stopped and a fine im going to write back to the company and ask for my money back.

did you send them a cpoy or the V5 and DL for ID

Capture\

and no mate I didnt

Ill say these are "show plates" as I don't want anyone buying and getting fined because of this thread.

Post a pic of the back of the plate because I suspect its the black backing one.

Don't they not supply the Nikolite backing with the clear acrylic in the front stuck between.

Apart from them being shorter than normal they appear to meet uk laws.

Fine in terms of dimensions yes, but still strictly speaking illegal due to the missing supplier details and 'standard' reference.

I bought my plate from an Audi dealer and chopped them down myself cos I quite liked the idea of the dealer details on the plate from a geeky 'OEMish' point of view. However, as a result of chopping my plates down - they no longer bear the BSAU number thingy.

By the letter of the law, despite being made by a dealer in the correct font with the correct spacing and with the correct minimum space around the border - my plates are now illegal.

I've said it before, and i'll say it again - the number plate laws are a farce in many respects, this being one of them.

I take my chances on the basis that it would have to be a massively pedantic cop who'd make a deal of this.....

I've been nicked twice with mine then received a letter stating if they're not off they will scrap my plate! ****ers

This!

NONE of my reg plates on all four of my cars are legal, have I ever been pulled over for them in over ten years or driving? Nope
The spacing on my Passat is off on my front plate, but correct on my rear plate, I still got done by a forward facing speed camera!

You will be fine with those shorter plates.

This might be of use to you, its the mot inspection manual about the guidlines an failures for registration plates. They removed the failures for the bsau mark a while ago now.

Most police will not pull you for a dodgy number plate because they cant be botherd to do the paperwork, i was told this by a police officer who was doing spot check on my clio 1.8 16v, i had cut my front number plate down so it fitted in the space on the bumper properly ;-)

Thanks for all the feedback and im sorry to cause such a topic clash haha.

As I said at the start I didn't intend on breaking the law I just wanted shorter plates.
Iv had pressed plates before and on all of my cars... never been stopped for those and tbh I didn't think I would have any problems.

there were a few traffic cops about today and drove past me multiple times and they didn't even look which I suppose is a good thing!

Ill take the beating when it comes my way, but as its my car and my idea to buy them its my fault.

I have a shortened plate on my car as I only have 5 characters. As long as; a) Has Legal Characters, b) has legal spacing to the edges and between characters c) has the BSAU mark then it is LEGAL!
If you change the way any Number plate reads like from B4 OBO to B4OBO or something like that, then it is illegal.

^^ mine has all expect the Bsu which I suspect has been cut off
