bought new cam follower, fuel pump looks different to one in video

So iv got my new cam follower and i was going to try replace it, however after watching this tutorial video
DIY: 2.0T FSI Cam Follower Replacement on Vimeo at 4:30 he has a bleeder valve, mine does not have this and has a metal pipe connected around that area instead.
Its an 05 2.0 TFSI. so not sure what to do now, would i be able to leave them attached and still replace the follower? or would i break something.

its only to let the preasure out

just pull the fuel pump fuse start the car all preasure is gone

then remove pump etc

Have you fitted your fuel pump yet? Either on your new 1 or probably best on your old one once you've removed it could you do me a favour? The union on the bottom at the right hand side could u take that union off and tell me if there's anything inside it? Removed mine by accident and heard something falling into the engine bay but cant find anything, thinking there's possibly a tapered pin in there

Yeah i saw your thread and got worried when doing mine, thats why i went to check and noticed it was diffrent. Is yours the same pump as mine?

there shouldnt be anything in the union
iv remved quite a few and never seen anything in there

No i had the bleed valve on mine, like bez said start it with the fuse pulled, my car had been sitting all night and went out this morning to work on it and there was no pressure behind the bleed valve.
but i removed the union when i didnt need to doh ha, just dont take the union off u only need to take the hard pipe off of the union, but if you could take the union off once uve got the fuel pump on a work bench and tell me if anything is in there behind the union that would be a massive help

Cheers bez, hmmm something fell in to the engine bay about the same time i took the union off, make it was just a coincidence and it was something totally different, also feel there's a lag in the throttle response since i changed the follower, mabye there's always been lag ive just never noticed it :/

have you got VCDS ?
if there was a fault at the HPFP it would have a fault code stored

I believe the risk is low but just for piece of mind and the cost of it its worth doing.

I have a 58 S3 and I changed my cam follower about 3000 miles ago at 70k. The old one was fine with minimal wear but for £25 and peace of mind it's worth doing.

Mine has 120k on it and no idea if it has been done before... :O

I change mine every 10k alongside with the oil service.

Mine has failed badly at 72k so I would definitely be checking on changing them
