MY2010 Car required for LED bulb testing

Samples are in, slightly too tall on what i have designed, that wont delay things tho as i will mod them and resend the mods to the factory and they will rebuild in the time and they will still be out for delivery 1st week of sept.

will also work out final figures for the total per pair posted.

oh and the pictures once i have modded.

Waiting for the mould to be re done, been told this will be done for Monday and then il have the final date but It will be asap.

I have ordered the fix part and just need to get to Audi to buy new screws for the plate lamp housing as new screws will be including in the price of this bulb :)

Hi All.

Major and last update I hope.

So I sent the last one back to have the high of the bulb amended, this has come back exactly how I designed it.

so here are the pictures





I have had 4 smaller LED's put in this, so its brighter than stock but not as bright as the 18 LED units so it wont look out of place when in the Car.

The little halogen bulb is the fix for the errors, a bit like my Canbus loom where it uses the Halogen bulb to trick the system. This but will not get any hotter than the stock halogen bulb, infact its so small I can leave it on for 5 mins and even touch it, it don't get hot at all so is fine in there.

In the kit you will get:
2 LED bulbs
4 x halogen bulbs (2 for the bulb and 2 spare)
2 x torx head screws for the numberplate housing.

The price is £15 and £2 1st recorded postage to the UK or NI.

I will not split the kit, so if you came to me and said you don't need the screws then I will not drop the price, I will just remove the screws out the kit, there will be no discount on this product either so please don't ask.

I am been firm on the price as this bulb has taken me hours of work and also time and effort to get to this stage, its been well over a year in the making but we are there now, I have spent a small fortune developing this so please respect this as I have with the price. The usual price of a canbus bulb is £5, so for £15 for this to work on a B7 car and a A3 2009+ without any coding required is a bargain.

Sorry, forgot to add, as I am happy with the bulbs I have asked the factory to make them up, he will hopefully send these by next week so I will start taking orders when he post's as I need to buy the small halogen bulbs and they come from the USA.

I'll definitely be having a set off you.
I've been watching this thread for ages and was dreading you coming up with a price that was too much to justify spending on a couple of bulbs, but £15 is a very fair price.

I've just got a couple of questions about the halogen canbus bulbs.
Are they visible through the lense? I'm guessing not, but I just wanted to check.
Are these halogen bulbs the weak point compared to the LED's? I don't mean that as a criticism, just wondering why the spares?

Dan, great questions which is what I want so I can get things cleared up before they arrive.

If you look at picture 3 of the lights on you can see any of the halogen shining thorugh, if you look at the surface area of picture 1 I have done it so light from the halogen does not shine back through, also the halogens I will get in will be tinted in dark blue so there is very little halogen light shining.

and Yes, The halogen will be a weak point, Baz who's car I have a test set in where a set of 501 canbus festoons with this small halogen bulb soldered to it, after a week one side had a intermittent error, soldered the halogen off and put a new one on and its been a few months now since I put a picture of the back of a B7 with the led's and no issues reported to me. I want to send an extra set out just incase 1 does go im not spending money on postage sending you out 1 small bulb to get rid of the error.

in regards to price, I have tried keeping it down the best I can, I could get it lower but I cant find the small halogen bulbs cheap enough to give more discount to you guys.

Nice one Trups, knew you would come up with a result. How do these compare in colour / brightness to the oem a5 ones everyone was fitting last year?

these where made for the 2010 cars with the issues :)

they are a LED going into the halogen housing, the OEM LED A5 ones have 2 LED's, same size but mine have 4 so will still be as bright, the A5 ones use a lens that projects the light across the plate which makes it look brighter than it is, with this you will need to use the halogen housing to keep your costs down but if you look at the pictures of them fitted to the B7 the light spread is good.

Just had an email to say these will be sent to me on the 13th OCT. they take a few days to come so will be here mid week. :)

1st batch has 50 pairs as if I had got more done they would of took another week.
