What do you all think about this tempting addition to the A3 whats it like £800. I want them so bad :eyebrows:

They are cool, no doubt about it, but £800 for different lights is a lot, don't know if much better than xenons, or is just because they are new?

money no object I would but, can probably spend £800 better

if they were on the option list when I ordered my car, it would have been the first box I ticked. They are LUSH !!

So true...I'd rather have the super sports seats and full LEDs than a 2k exclusive colour, do feel for those who were unable to tick the led headlights box and a little disrespectful from Audi to those eager customers who placed the orders when they knew full well that they would be adding them as an option very shortly after initial release of the 8v... Audi should offer a contribution to customers 1st major service or something imo. What does any else think?

Iam annoyed at quite a few things about ordering my car early. I wish I had waited now..... And things that I were thinking of ordering but set myself a boring budget so I didn't order I now wish I had ordered.

I'm actually going out on a limb here and going to say I wish I hadn't bought the a3 and gone for the a5 like I first intended!

Perhaps a gentle letter or email asking Audi to explain there position in relation to this matter and how it has created some dissatisfied customers. Understandably, it is easy for me to suggest this having only just ordered my car, however, a letter or email would definitely be drafted if I were victim to devious marketing techniques!

Every one's got them, why follow

Everyone? Are you perhaps mistaking the full led headlights for the led daytime running lights?

On drive the deal, new a3 options:

LED headlights with headlight washers£795.00
LED headlights with headlight washers (when bought with Comfort pack). £490.00

I booked mine in conjunction with the comfort pack... Both options were must haves in my opinion.

Hi Guys

Long term lurker......thinking of ordering an S3 so this topic very interesting to me. Will be upgrading from A1 185 BE.

I have a question - The A3 / S3 brochure states that LED headlights are £795. But have seen on a few broker websites that LED lamps can be added on top of the comfort pack for £490. However dealer I'm talking too keeps referring back to the official price list at £795 - who is right?

Thanks in advance.

Pulp,

The broker is right. I've placed my order today through drive the deal and the audi garage who has handled my order hasn't altered the quote that dtd provided me initially.

When ordering the Xenons you get a discount on the comfort pack, which doesn't apply with the LEDs - a sort of hidden cost of them if you will. I specced my car back up on the configurator then added LED lights, and it was £795 more.

Many thanks for the reply.

ill quiz the dealer again tomorrow. Seems the brochure might be wrong on a few counts as SE and Sport has the comfort pack at £300 if taken with LED headlights, but this option (PX7) is not available on those trim models.

So pretty much decided on following spec:-

S3 Sportback - S Tronic
- Amalfi white
- Alacantra seats
- 5-twin spoke star alloys
- Comfort pack
- Audi Sound System
- Interior Light package
- LED headlights
- High beam assist
- Privacy glass
- Hold assist
- Tyre pressure monitoring.

Any thoughts? Think I am missing anything essential from the spec? Going for Amalfi as have it on my A1 and found it very hard wearing and surprisingly nice for a solid colour.

That's reasonably similar spec to mine so I'd have to say good choices! I have a white bmw at the moment, but I wanted a change from that colour... Makes me feel like it's even more of a new and different car, but if it ain't broken don't fix it ey!

Lol - I have a white BMW company car also. However the BMW white is more what I call "police car white" where as Amalfi has a creamy tinge. It's also £500 odd saved.

Was thinking of Estoril blue but think it would demand a lot of time / effort to keep it looking amazing. I'm 30 in a couple of years and my days spending all Sunday polishing and waxing are nearly over.

Has anyone got any thoughts on the technology pack? I would dearly love this for the bigger screen but for way of background - our A1 currently does minimal miles during the week (less than 20) but then used at weekends. So really it's my weekend toy - I would be lucky to do 6000 miles a year. So my head is saying its a total waste of money lol!

Yeah, as I said its a very similar spec to mine but I added the tech pack, b&o and the estoril blue. Unfortunately when we buy cars we tend not to think with our head and more with our hearts. I think if you wanted a toy to enjoy I'd spec the b&o sound system. It's cheaper than the tech pack... You'll use it more often and I've heard (excuse the pun) glowing reviews.

I must admit, the full LED headlights do look amazing. However, is everyone convinced on the longevity of them? I know there are multiple LEDs in each head unit which form different lighting patterns but, if I'm right in thinking, if any of the individual LEDs fail they can't be replaced, (i.e. a new unit is required?).

On average they'll last a whole lot longer than other lights, but there's always a chance of failure.

My 2010 VW Polo has standard bulbs front and rear and LED third brake light. In the three years I've had this car, only one of these has failed: the LED third brake light.

My dealer had to order a new unit from Germany, as they rarely fail.

do you have any pictures in term of diferences between theses kind of lights??
daylights? night lights?
thanks

Cool they may be but frankly I think there are far better places to spend your money. I can't see the jump from Xenons to LEDs being that significant tbh, certainly nothing like the jump from halogens to Xenons.

Their presence on "lesser" cars is also a bit of a downer. I notice that Seat are offering them as standard on a certain model or configuration of Leon at the moment. It may sound pretentious and "superior" but frankly, when you're being asked to spend the thick end of £2k for LED lights on your Audi, you don't expect them to be chucked in for free on a Seat!

Only £800 if you have S-line and for that price I reckon it is indeed worth it.

I was going to buy the adaptive headlights, so the extra cost for LED is only another £500. I accept they are a tad expensive but I could justify it to myself, I am a little annoyed on the savings of the comfort pack for SE and Sport, I might ask the dealer to explain that one.

With not having fog lights on the S3 I liked the idea of all weather lights with the LED lights. That has made me wonder what LED lights and front fog lights would be like on a foggy day?

Probably because SE and Sport have the adaptive function on the Xenons, the S-Line doesn't by default.

I'm kind f new here and i was looking everywhere for an answer to my question but can't find it and was hoping some one can help,
i already ordered my A3 Sb with the led headlights and the code was PX2 but i was having another look through the options and saw that the headlight washer system is an added extra, does that mean ill get it without the headlight washer system? if so do you guys think its a must have or not really. cheers in advance

From the LED headlights section of the configurator:

Including LED rear lights, headlight cleaning system and Light and rain sensor package
Light conductor is fed by yellow and white LEDs, giving the vehicles an unmistakable look
Turning lights provide more lateral illumination on tight bends and when turning
The headlight distribution modes for motorway light and country road light are activated depending on the road speed
Motorway light with extended range at speeds above approx. 68mph
All-weather light makes conventional front fog lights superfluous and reduces glare in poor visibility (in fog, rain or snow)
In conjunction with Technology package with Mobile telephone preparation - High with Audi Connect, the navigation data works in combination with the LED headlights to control the light distribution with motorway light and country light modes using the stored route data from the MMI navigation plus with MMI touch
Additional comfort comes courtesy of the junction light, which provides a wide front light setting, as well as travel mode, which switches between right and left-hand drive modes assisted by GPS data

eh what happened? - was there an assumption it was included in the standard kit and no need to add and to find too late later on that it is an option and not standard kit

Really? I must check because I ordered the comfort pack but still paid £800 - at least I think I did

Me too. I think their system is smart enough to do the maths depending on the combinations selected but I didn't check this one. Since LED appears to include the light and rain sensor pack from the comfort pack maybe that's where the discount is.

Thing is I queried that because I specifically asked why am I paying twice at the time of the 2nd order change 2 week ago - I need to chase a response.

Or 400 in conjunction with the comfort pack

Paul do you have proof of this? Playing on the configurator LED is £795 regardless of whether comfort pack is selected or not, even though there is an overlap of functionality.

If you require it I can dig out my quote?

I just dug out my quote and I definitely paid £605 for comfort pack and £795 for LED, so £1400 all in. Is this in fact correct or did you get LED cheaper?

No mention of them being cheaper when the comfort pack is included in the saloon brochure..

It's erroneous. You pay £795 whether you select comfort or not but the audi dealer makes up the difference to £795 if you select comfort as it reduces the led cost by error....

It could be that the comfort pack price is affected by Xenons, so something weird happening when upgarding form Xenons to LEDs maybe?

Regarding the LED headlight and washer system question i asked earlier, the LED headlight code here in latvia is PX2 which is without the washer system and has to be ordered separately which is really stupid to be honest but just wanted to clear it out incase anyone else was wondering. cheers
