New Traffic laws

As in..the new lane hogger and tailgate laws? Or the new fixed penalty amounts etc?

Penalty amounts are great. £100/3 points for no seatbelt or driving on a mobile phone. Still too little if you ask me.
too many morons still doing it.

middle lane hogging makes my drive more rewarding, not getting caught is great fun, you should try is sometime :D

Mobile phone one needs upping imho

Not convinced unless I see/know someone is fined for hogging the middle lane!

Though I would think a traffic cop would apply some common sense to the offence, like warnings for the first few months, to let driver's know/be aware that such a law exists!

Not everyone reads the news or are on forums to know they are coming in.

so i can still hog the fast lane ?
and when did this points for no seat belt come in ?

I see hoggers on the middle lane and fast lane everyday. Sometimes I wish I was the police. Boy would I be killing it dishing out tickets

so say im on the m5 3am no cars around i cant sit in the middle lane like i always do ?
thats crap

This is where common sense comes in. But if you couldn't spot a traffic car and move over before they've caught you up, then you deserve it! lol

No laws have changed. Exact same law as was always there. But they can now issue fixed penalties for it rather than sending it to courts

Inside lane is usually rutted to buggery from the HGV's. As for the police employing common sense, I wouldn't count on that one.

true im one of the HGV drivers

surely the middle lane deal is only if you're causing a nuisance by being slow etc and making people needlessly have to overtake? driving when the road's empty at 3AM shouldn't be an issue.

What would be the point of driving in the middle lane on an empty road at 3am?

If you look up the definition of Careless and Inconsiderate Driving, there's a clause where someone has to have actually been inconvenienced by the poor driving.

I had a BMW 5 series following me in the fast lane 1ft behind my rear bumper the other day, so once I had cleared the car I was overtaking, I indicated to move to the middle lane so he could pass me.

What happened next was amazing! He followed the rules of this traffic law by the book, only going into the middle and fast lanes to over take cars!! Even when there was a 5 car gap between 2 cars in the middle lane, he would dive into the middle lane, then back out to the fast lane to over take the 2nd car, he would even make the left lane once in a while.

But wait for it, this is the BEST bit! Bear in mind this was around 9pm, so the sun was long gone, and I had him in my sights for a good 5 miles/5 minutes watching him weave between the traffic. He managed to do it all without once using his ****** indicators!
