hi all,i want to lower my car whats the best option,just buy full set of coil overs or do i go for lowering springs, i wont be spending a whole lot on them because i change my mind like the weather lol.If i go springs can i still use my original s line shocks.what do ye think of these at that price i would think the quality wouldn't be great.Audi A4 B7 (04-08) Coilovers Suspension Kit

I went for Eibach Sportline 50/40 for my s-line.

its an s line,as for the drop i dont want it stupidly low i have 18s on now so its what looks good but practical ill will be putting on some sort of spacers as well i want the wheel just flush to the arch.macdoon do you have any pics of your car, and by 50/40 does that mean 50mm drop up front and 40 rear.
if you want a decent drop go for springs only you can use em with your standard (S-line) shocks.
got them on mine with 18 inch wheels. lowered the car but if i had to go and do it again i would go for coilovers as i'm not exactly happy with the stance.(it might get better with bigger 19/20 inch wheels and spacers.

As you have the s-line then the Eibach 50/40 would lower the rear 20mil and the front 30 mil to even out the stance.
The Eibach springs are very good and definitely better than the standard s-line IMO.

Really depends what you're wanting to achieve - i went the the FK AK Street Coilovers at around £200.
Best quality? Nope.
Best ride? Nope.
But - they give me the look i was after, and at £200, i really dont care whether they only last a year.
Everyone wants something different from their car - my choice was based purely on getting the stance I wanted. No way i coulda done that just with springs.

I'm a newbie and got 2006 2.0tdi se that seat high ish on 17",would these spring be ideal for me. It's a family car so can't have it on its knees. Also is it a big job to do( Iv some mech knowledge)or is there somewhere near manchester that would do cheap ish....lol...

I've bought the weitec 50/50 off Damian dpm this week just got to collect my b5 perches from audi later on today so should drop the back 30 and the front 40-45 with these perch plates but hopefully gonna fit them tomorrow. Just hope everything goes to plan without anything being seized etc
A tip: if you want to buy Eibach sportlines or H&G lowering springs then buy them from Germany as they are CONSIDERABLY cheaper than UK prices even after shipping charges. Delivery is within 5 days. I bought my H&R's from here, only £125 delivered

Remember any problems or warranty claims with them and it's not so easy to deal with an eBay seller in Germany.
Shouldn't have any issues with top brands like H&R and Eibach but you never know.

Acheived with - JOM coilovers or FK's i cant remember. (and 35 profile 18's) 15mm forge spacers all round

cheers mate no probs with pot hole or speed bumps. I like the wheels as the are genuine scirocco's and not many a4's with them.
Many people on here are saying that changing the springs not only lowers the stance slightly but also makes the ride and handling better. Can anyone confirm if it makes the ride smoother as the standard S-line springs do give quite a hard ride.

Yes! aftermarket lowering spring ''often/but not always'' make the ride/handling better than the s-line ones. Well in my case yes.
It's not a significant difference but yes my H&R springs are better than standard s-lines.
Am I correct in thinking that the Eibach 50/40 actually makes the car sit lower at the front? All the pics I have seen make the rear look slightly higher.. Are there any springs that are a level drop?
I'd say that once my H&Rs had settled its very close to level.
In this picture you can see the arch gap is almost equal front and back, since that picture was taken I've changed the front tires to the same profile as the rears which has brought it to pretty much bang on level.
One thing to bear in mind tho, as most of the pictures you'll see are not totally side on and at an angle the spacing or offsets of the wheels can make the car look not level or lower/higher than it actually is. For example Ruairi83s car above on the Scirocco wheels would probably look lower if he put some spacers on it.
Sorting the spacing and loosing the stupid stretch tyres has made mine look lower than it actually is.
