Advise on Audi A3 bodykit

Hello guys

I'm new to the forum so please excuse me if I've posted this in the wrong section.

I'm on a mission to make my otherwise very incapable (performance wise) Audi A3 look more sporty and I've seen some sweet body kits online, but was hoping I could get some professional advice.

I'm kind of torn between two sets. The first seller is based in Germany and takes a month to delivery, but provides a full body kit, including front and rear bumpers, and side skirts for £500. Here's a link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A3-8P...item4d0c55f3b4

Does anybody have experience with similar after-market body kits as I'm not sure what the quality would be like. Also, do you think I would have to purchase facelift bonnet and facelift headlights to be able to fit that front bumper? The seller said that's not necessary but I wanted to double check. And I know that the kit would have to be painted, but do you think they're fairly easy to fit (DIY)?

The second option I am looking at would also set me back about £500 but the sellers are based in the UK which is obviously more convenient, but it would mean I would have to buy all the parts individually:

Additionally, the first two items aren't the full front and rear bumpers but just lip extensions. I'm not sure how they would look in comparison to the german kit but I'm hoping for some opinions from you guys

In my honest and kindest opinion id get rid of the red stuff, doesnt not do it justice at all!!! as far as the likes of those body kits. Id stay clear unless you are goin to put the money in and do it properly. those bodykits you posted looks like they came straight out of halfords. :/ what year is your car?

My first audi was an a3 04 model 2.0 tdise, I got it damaged repairable and decided to do a facelift whilst i was repairing it. all in all for the bonnet and facelift bumper and paint I think it came close to about 1,200 - 1,400 pound. see link to my progress page below.

If I were you I'd hold off, save a bit more cash and do it the right way! :)

Lol mate that first ebay bodykit is terrible, we have had countless threads mocking and hurling abuse at it lol
 
Personally I'd say get s3 rear and sides with s-line facelift front, perfect combo
 
I see what your going for here with "the car looks boring" and you want a 'body kit' but honestly the ones you have listed are pretty bad. Most of the upgrades done here on the forum are from the standard kits to the higher spec look for instance from the standard sport look to the sline or s3 kit.
have a look on my blog (link in sig) and you will see that I did the sport to sline and then sline to facelift s3....
Also if you need a bonnet to do the sline upgrade I am selling one (link in sig)
 
Like the guys above have said, you need to get rid of those red bits. They not exactly subtle and they're highlighting bits that don't really deserve any attention.
As for the kits, I'd steer clear of all of them to be honest and look at the facelift to single grille + S Line parts.

I think the kits may make it look cheap and boyracer, but using better looking original parts will make it look genuine, classy and more expensive.

I can't tell on my little screen, but is it matt black or is it just dirty in that pic? If it's dirty then spend some time on the paintwork and you'll be surprised how much more you like the car when it's got a serious shine.

I hope I haven't offended you, that's not my intention, but I'm just trying to save you spending your money on something that will make people look at your car and think 'oh dear, that's a shame'. It will also knock value off the car when you come to sell, as opposed to a facelift with S line bumpers etc.

Completely agree about the red, I'm not a fan of it myself, hence why I want to get rid of it completely.

It's not that I'm disagreeing with you guys, I do really appreciate your opinions (that's why I came here), but I really don't think the first kit is that bad at all? With the right colour combination I think it might looks quite nice. Check out these non-photoshopped snaps:

The first car in particular looks pretty great and not at all tacky, imo.

Mine is 2004 reg, first one from the new shape. It's old now and I'm not looking to keep it for too long, so don't want to spend a fortune on it.

If money wasn't an issue I'd probably go for the RS facelift but unfortunately that's not the case. But I definitely don't think the S-line looks prettier than the german kit.

supanova - I checked out your blog, you've got some pretty cool stuff on there. Your Audi looks incredible with the RS look. Just out of curiosity, are those genuine Audi headlights or aftermarket ones? There're some nice ones online at like £250 but obviously they're not Audi ones. Also, is the facelift air con control still available for sale?

danb986 - yup, it's black matte. Not wrapped though, it's painted. Here's a nicer pic of it (it's with the old alloys, though).

there total ****e use oem s3 s-line etc
and dump the red.
 
Ah mate dont do the kits and get the red stuff off, the kits are cheap tacky things
 
Looks like its come straight out of a max power magazine lol. Not feeling any of those kits... way too OTT

Agree with whats already been said.........get rid of the red highlighted bits.I like the matte black personally but i'd do the alloys too.
just my opinion.
 
Hi Jason,

I'm guessing you're relatively young. I remember when I first bought an A3 and I wanted to change the rear lights and get blue LED's in my dash and was slated on this forum. I'd come from a saxo and the majority of people on here love audis original styling. I'm now one of them which is why people here will pay big bucks to essentially make their older audi's look a few years newer.

It's your car and totally up to you what you do with it. I suggest if you go for a non OEM bodykit, get onto the max power forums for advise on how to proceed as you will just get slated here pal.

If you later decide to do some engine mods etc come back for some advice.

The car looks good in Matt Black, i have to admit i am not a big fan of the red parts done on the car.

In regards to a Body Kit, i would be tempted with a facelift rather than a "Body Kit" The front bumpers look miles better with a larger grill and if you go for S line it has a little flick at the bottom, if not get a sport bumper and stick a Votex front spoiler/splitter on. Then as for the back, Stick a facelift S line/S3 rear bumper on. Personally i think that would not only make the car look a lot "Newer" but you would retain alot of "Class" whilst subtly modifying it :icon_thumright: Be sure to let us know what you end up doing to the car tho buddy,

Agree with most comments, ditch the red look crap nod tacky, don't add body kits that's just childish in my opinion (body kits are for saxo's) just do oem and upgrade the bumpers will look better
