My SPORT to S-LINE Conversion (Part No's, Prices & Tips included)...

TPS are great for parts - did me a good deal on a lot of these parts. E.g the grills were cheaper than I saw a pair used on Ebay.

Just a quick one - the fog grills, in some of the original pics they look like they have no chrome surrounds but in some they do?

Got me bumper, fog lights, grills in the post and have the bonnet ready for coversion do I need any clips or anythink to fit the grill to the bumper.

Fog grills are stupid and dont grip bumper properly i snapped the lugs some how and now they are at risk of falling out lol, large middle grill just clips into bumper no new clips needed im pretty sure then you just use the top holding bolts to secure the top down

cool ta yer already got the fog grills 1 clips in fine but the other wont will have a play with it before I fit bumper. also what do I need to do to get fog lights wired up ?

Hard to remember now but I think it just clips in mostly. I think there are two or three screws along the top edge that secure it to your actual car though.... at the front of your engine bay.

I bought ready make h7 to h11 adapterf from ebay and plugged straight into new fogs easiest way and took about 5 mins to fit but i have to wire in some error light resistors dur to having LED fog bulbs for the white colour look

You definitely need the plugs because your existing sport's plugs won't fit.
The wires you can get away with reusing your existing ones. It can be a bit hit and miss though so I'd recommend spending a tenner on new wires just in case you end up needing them.

I bought the plugs but didnt use them, i bought some off ebay plug and play ones, just type in H7 to H11 connectors and loads off them come up get some good quality ones so they are insulated well thats easiest way pal

Buy 2 h11 and 2 h7 wiring plugs from ebay and solder together and heat shrink and insulate around the solder then your good to go its pretty much the same as buying ready made ones also make sure you solder h7 to h11 not both same side lol or use juction box but recommend soldering

I think the screws you are talking about are part number N 908 974 01. You get 13 of them in a pack for about 50p. Audi will be able to confirm they are what you need, but looking at ETKA it looks like they are what you are after.

The three screws that I mentioned that go at the top edge of the grille are part number N 910 702 01 (size M6x30). You'll get three in a pack... also about 50p. You'll definitely need these.

Also, I wouldn't muck about getting fog plugs from ebay and soldering etc. Just get the proper ones from Audi as per the part number I gave you, it's not like they're expensive.

Hold on. Unless I'm missing something very obvious here.... the actual real genuine kosher ones are only about £15 for the pair, so what's the point in doing an eBay bodge job for the same price?!

Just ease off the existing plugs, fit the new ones, and hey presto... you've got working fog lights, for the same price as the eBay route... minus the fire hazard.

No fire hazzard, upto him if he wants to cut the existing wires etc etc i just gave him an easy soloution the one i used as i didnt want to cut the existing plug

plus electrical wite is copper wiring inside insulation so no fire hazzard pal upto him end of the day

The point is you don't have to cut the wires. Just ease them out and insert into the new plugs. Simple.

I'm yet to speak to someone who hasn't managed it.

I'm just trying to save him time and solder

how is it to drive compared to the a3
how is parking, is it harder/ easier?
does the ACC make a difference?

do you think it's a good upgrade, any regrets?

No worries...

The drive is much better than my A3. Braking, cornering, traction, everything is just much much better. Although that's to be expected as you're comparing an 'R' model to an A3.
Performance is much better too, even though my A3 was remapped.

A lot is made of the rear view in a scirocco being poor and that rear parking sensors are a must... I only slightly agree with this. The rear view is not great but it's enough to be able to reverse park with no problems after you get used to it. Parking sensors would obviously make it easier but they are definitely nowhere near "a must" for any half decent parker.

ACC works nicely. In comfort mode the steering becomes lighter and suspension softer, although still as firm as say an A3 sport, maybe slightly less firm. Normal mode is more somewhere between sport and s-line I'd say. Sport mode is very firm and you'd only want to use this over smooth surfaces. The steering firms up nicely too and throttle response gets sharper. Again, these are all relative to the R.
For the GT they say that the sport mode is similar to the R's normal mode, and the GT's normal mode is similar to the R's comfort mode.

I think the scirocco is a worthwhile upgrade. You get a lot more as standard, so depending on how your A3 is spec'd you could end up with a lot more toys.
Like most of us, I like people liking my car and the scirocco gets a lot of nice attention, with people pulling up next to me asking what it is etc etc.

Which engine/model scirocco are you looking to get? Also which year? There are a few changes to be aware of if going for a GT... engine power increase on the 2.0tsi, white dials/DIS around late 2009, plus a few other bits.

Sorry to hijack this, I'm also looking to upgrade my front bumper from an A3 SB "single frame bumper" from 2007.
I've seen a front sline bumper similar to yours but PN 8p4 807 437 D/E, can anyone confirm if it will also fit?

I dont think you can because the older style diffuser is one peice the grey exhaust part is attached to the valance and dose not unclip from the rest off the diffuser and the whole diffuser clips into the bottom of the older style bumper the bumper you have is facelift type and the diffuser is one. Peice just the centor part clips into it

Keep a eye out on ebay and gumtree not much diffusers come on its easyer to find a complete bumper

So heres the situation.

My sister has just put an order in for a New S3.
She is giving me her old 2010 A3 sportback 1.6tdi sport.

I want to just stick new 18 inch rotors and lower it to mimic the S Line ride height.

What Springs do i need to mirror the S Line Black edition ride height? And is it just springs i need.
