Me and my friend decided yesterday that as we have the same time off were going to drive down to Switzerland and go on some of their awesome roads.

You know, like top gear did when they went to find the best driving roads in the world. Stelvio pass I do believe was there favourite. Well were going to see this road through our own eyes.

Words can't describe how excited I am for this trip. Did one last year to the nurburgring and other places that way and that was immense!

You lucky b*****d!
I want to do that now, I love road trips.
Last year the wife and I hired a brand new black Dodge Charger and spent a month touring the west of America (California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado) and it was the best thing I've ever done. We didn't book any hotels, excpet the nights in Vegas and just found a hotel wherever we stopped. We could've done the trip a bit cheaper if we'd hired something boring and more economical, but for me a big part of the holiday was going to be the car so I wanted something a bit decent.
You'll have to do like I did and try to get the car in as many photo's as possible. You'll get some awesome photo's that are worthy of any brochure :photo:

You're going to have a great time and an S3 seems like the perfect car to do it in.
Have a safe trip.

Sounds great I did Amsterdam followed by Germany earlier this year... very fast roads!

That sounds good, I want to do Route 66 on a motorbike before I die. It's one of those things I've set myself to do at some point.

Sounds great I did Amsterdam followed by Germany earlier this year... very fast roads!

I did Bruges for one night, Amsterdam for two nights, cologne for one night, Mannheim for two nights (watched F1 there) nurburgring on the way to Brussels for one night before home last year. Like you said, some very fast roads... Got 172mph out of my stage 1. Now I'm on stage 2+ and I'm glad I got a uprated intercooler. There weathers meant to be amazing over there next week :D

Dont worry, there'll be photo's. We've booked one hotel so far and that's in saint dei (close to the French mountain roads that lead towards Switzerlands mountain roads. Then we'll just book hotels close to the mountains and spend a few days blasting round them.

CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Sounds amazing would love to do it. Id only have to pay fuel as im in Germany at moment. Weather this side of europe has been lush for weeks switzerland no different enjoy!!

about 1600 mile round trip there hope you have your expenses planned
must be a fair bit in fuel for an s3 i imagine

i need to do this soon though, have fun

I've driven to Italy fair few times & back, I loved my very 1st drive the best, it was height of the summer, cruising through France, across Reims, Strasbourg, down to Mulhouse, then through Switzerland & I have to say driving through there with the lakes all blue in summer was amazingly beautiful, never forget that drive even if it was the beginnings of sticking vanes & a blown turbo when we drove from Italy to Croatia for holiday lol.

Really enjoy it mate, you drive through Switzerland at this time of year & you don't really want to drive fast as its so scenic, you forget the power of the car & cruise along :)

I drive to tignes France skiing every year. Without fail too!

The mountain roads are awesome.

Went in the Mitsubishi Shogun in January, 849 miles each way, left 7.20am English time, arrived 12.15am French time. Just me who drove....Mrs can't hack it... loved it, even though a shogun isn't a thrilling drive...

You'll love it! I spent all my childhood in Strasbourg (I'm half french) and my parents live in Lausanne. Best roads!

Have a great trip.

Should be a real blast.

Make sure you have the san bernadino pass on your list

Already in the list :D

Ill just set cruise control (cheers Nigel😉) on the motorways to the French alps, should get about 33mpg there. Then unleash her in the French alps and Switzerland alps and some Italy. Then cruise around them again for the scenery and then back. I reckon we should go through about £350 of fuel. We'll have more money of course but that's what I reckon it should take to do it, but it depends where we go I suppose.

I think someone said I need pictures to prove it. Well here you go...

Furka pass

I don't think you'll find a better place to make camp. Listening and watching the v8's and super cars and motorbikes flying up the mountain pass.

Stelvio pass. 48 hare pin corners...

Has anyone had 500miles of fuel in a Audi S3 stage 2+?

Not bad I think. This was on the way home from Dover to Wakefield

Oh I did. Got a nice 10.7mpg up stelvio pass. But them totals were on the way back home on the motorways. I gunned it down there and round the mountain passes.

Totals of the whole trip were

2268.7miles
50.16hours of driving
45mph average
28.1mpg average

I've got loads of videos and photos but I'm at work at the moment.

Not really a specific route until Switzerland but we stumbled upon some very nice roads in France. I can give you the names/numbers of them if you like? Might take me a few days though as I don't have the map. Haha

I would like to know the route you took please since I intend to do this next year !
