Hi I've got a 1996 A4 1.9Tdi and its giving me problems starting,

Called out the AA today and he said it was the non return valve (??) that was letting in air to the fuel system. He pointed to a small white box with a fuel line going to it and one coming out of it on the top right of the engine.

The problem is... what is it called so i can order a new one from Audi

Apart from that this is my first Audi and my first diesel and i am well impressed with the fuel consumption i am getting

I have just broke a TDi Passat and have got a complete spare engine in the garage so if you need a part let me know.
is your car a 90 or 110bhp model? can you put a picture up of what the AA man says is the problem?

Hi, My car is the 110 model.

I was in Fife and the car was running fine. I parked for about an hour and when i tried to start the car it just kept turning over and refusing to start.
When the AA man came out he checked over the car and the loosened the fuel injector to cylinder 2 (from front of car) and then managed to get the car started.
He said it was a non return valve that was not working and pointed to the offending white piece with the arrows

that's the fuel filter pipe. I will have one here off the passat engine if you want. buy a new fuel filter before you change it though.

Hi Davy ive no ideas what its worth and to be honest its not something ive ever had to change. so if you buy new clips and a filter bring your car over and well swap the bit over and ill run a scan for any codes for you. and as for price its up to you. Im just happy to help out and meet some Scottish members.
