Oil in this heat ??

Went to check my oil and coolant and the oil needed a small top up so went in the boot and the oil out (5w30 platinum) and it was really thin will this be giving my engine enough protection on start up? Or should I switch to a thicker oil when the weather is as hot as this ?

I'm no mechanic but surely the oil gets a lot hotter in your engine when it's running than it sitting in the boot

yes I would like to think so lol,but because its so thin will it be giving the engine enough protection when starting after its sat for a while
