I've just seen a a3 8l with vw rims and badges across it. Why would someone want to go down lol

Yep that's probably the reason, see different VAGs with different VAG wheels all the time.

I'm afraid I didn't get any pics the guy was annoyed at me enough for laughing at him. Didn't help half the stuff on his boot sale stool looked stolen lol.
