i'm slightly wary of Decatting my S3, as i'm worried that it will cause more problems than its worth..

i'm looking at the Milltek full system, whats your experiences of running a decat and is it worth it?

MOT is no a problem as i can sort that out :)

Unless you're at Stg3 or above, there's no significant gain in a decat.

really!? i thought it would shoot flames and **** :(

These engines don't really do flames, even when tuners have tried to map them into software by dumping loads of fuel, it hasn't really worked at all.

i assume that they still pop fairly well?

This really isn't an old school turbo engine.

Mine does the odd bang and maybe an occasional flame but that's with a big turbo and it runs rich.

If you're looking for all of that,it's the wrong engine and wrong era unfortunately.

Umm not really mate, it's not like a Focus RS with a decat or anything, it's just loud raw noise with pretty much a VERY occasional bang after a long out burst of nailing it if your lucky.

I can make the DSG pop by using kickdown very quickly and then backing right off the throttle, but its not really advised. (irrelevant as your manual anyhow)

ah thats cool man no worries :)

you gain a bit of torque with decat. it's a bit louder but nothing else. you get odd bangs with sports cat too...for flames you need a wot box or a remap from rick @ unicorn with flat shift.

so your saying its probably better just to go for turbo back or?

I would settle for the whole system with a sports cat.

+1 and I bet most would do the same, would be silly to have to rip the downpipe off every year for the sake of 30 mins and an MOT.

the MOT wont be a problem i've got that sorted already, but you'd still go for sports cat regardless of that?

If MOT is no problem then it doesn't matter what you go for, cheapest option would be decat.

I have a full decat none res mili and it sounds amazing.
